What's the sharpest knife you ever owned?

Mora 2000, followed by the Helle Taiga. Both came through as razors. Of the two, I'd take the Helle if I had to make a choice for all around use.

Unfortunately I am not the best at sharpening yet but I so far have been able to make my navy k-507 cut through cardboard like butter but the sharpest out of the box and maybe still the sharpest is my Junglee venom and Jf2. At work a co worker use the venom and he said he had never used a knife that sharp out of the box and he owned many Benchmades, spydercos, and others. I also think it was much sharper then my benchmade bedlam.

Out of the box sharpness really doesn't matter to me. I prefer that OOTB, the bevels are near to what I want to reprofile it to be.

Just wondering here though, the title of the thread is "what's the sharpest knife you ever owned?". To those who answered OOTB sharp, can't you get you knives sharper than they are OOTB?

I want to say the sharpest knife I have ever taken out of the box was my Spyderco Bill Moran fixed blade.

ootb , I dont take much notice, but sharpest was probably either my H1 catcherman or ladybug, thats a very fine steel. Split hair ootb

One of the nicer steels to sharpen to me is superblue

Out of the box probably my Spyderco Tenacious. The USMC Ka-Bar I used to have came hair shaving sharp out of the box too.

My take on out of the box sharpness... If I receive a knife that is really sharp OOTB, such as the three I mentioned in my previous post, I figure why waste my precious time trying to improve the edge? It will already do what I require. A dull OOTB knife is a different story, I will spend the time to sharpen it.

The sharpest new factory knife I ever had was/is a Benchmade 733-01. It was my 1st S30V knife blade.

My sharpest knife out of the box is my Spyderco Zulu. It was in the mail when I woke up yesterday morning, I had six stitches because of it before I went to bed last night. :D And that is the ONLY time I cut myself accidently with a knife... so far. Just wiping the blade off will shave my fingerprints off my finger. NOT an exaggeration, I shaved a couple layers of skin off my index finger first time I touched the damn thing. I feel I need to add this, I am NOT an Idiot, I know how to handle knives. I have alot of expirence with knives, guns, and other dangerous/deadly tools and weapons. The stitches were however my fault, got bumped, dropped the knife, my knee caught it. The blade is hollow ground CPM S30V and was out of the box hair-shaving sharp.. and finger shaving sharp..:p

Top 2 Bottom: Kershaw Speed Bump, Zero Tolerance ZT0350SW, & Spyderco Zulu
All of the knives came Razor Sharp out of the box. The Zulu is just a bit sharper than the others. I havent had to sharpen any of them yet since theyre all brand new.

I just sharpened my Spyderco Zulu today with my Spyderco Sharpmaker, 15 degrees per side finished off with the Ultra Fine Rods.. It is now my sharpest knife ever. Thank God I didnt sharpen it before I cut myself with it, or it may very well have hit the bone. Then it might have gotten chipped..

I've never bought a Buck 110 that wasn't a razor right out of the box. But... the sharpest knife I've ever had - right out of the box - is a production Kershaw JYDII in SG2 & Ti - microtome sharp. It is so sharp... just glancing in the direction of it in my display case I noticed my finger was bleeding! My second example of that same knife, a blem from our bud the K-guy, is sadly 'only' Buck 110 sharp - but it's seen some use. Apologies to my CRKs, a small Sebbie and a 'StarTac' 'zaan - but you guys weren't quite to Buck 110 standards, right out of the box.

I will have to say the Spyderco tenacious my other Spyderco and kershaw's came super sharp but the tenacious was crazy sharp

Obviously the sharpest knife in the universe is the all titanium knife designed with collaboration between Bear Grylls and Chuck Norris produced by Gerber. The Grill Norris Super Ti Survival BBQ Tool with GPS, Meat Baster and pull through knife sharpener.

Edit
On a serious note, my fujiwara 12" gyuto is the sharpest knife I own. So sharp it cuts you twice.

out fo the box itd have to be 2 of my Spydercos, the Native and the Manbug i recently bought. when done myself, my best would have to be an older 110, 102 and the 112.

My Dozier folding hunter was so sharp I cut myself examining it right after I got it and did not even notice until I felt the blood running down my hand.

In my experience, it's inevitable custom knives get extra care and attention. Obvious bias, but certainly the sharpest I've handled was my Jack Black Knives U1 serial number 001. The edge wasn't put on by me, but by Stuart Mitchell Senior (now sadly deceased) of Pat Mitchell Knives, Sheffield, England. It popped the hairs off your arm so quickly and effortlessly it was like running a mini lawnmower up there! In terms of factory-made knives, I have a Frosts Lapplander 95 which came with a very scary-sharp edge, while other Frosts knives I got at the time ranged from reasonably sharp to a bit better. Spyderco I've always found very good, and most (not all) of the Cold Steel knives I've had have had good shaving-sharp edges OOTB. Worst edge I've ever had OOTB was on a CRKT version of the A.G.Russell Sting, it's got a good and sharp now, but it was blunt as a butter-knife when I got it.
