What's the toughest thing you have done with your Tuff?

It actually shows once again that people are completely ablivious to what a folding knife is made for. That was one of the best displays of common sense fail ever. The part where he stabs the knife in the stump and nicks his hand was the cherry.

I thought you were supposed to keep this crap out of the forums. All those people that are bashing him are like a pack of wolves. Just let it go!!. You shouldn't be bashing another forum member. He was
Just testing the limits. I don't see the big deal. It is called the Tuff, shouldn't it be used. He never nicked his hand. Now this thread is all just bashing Carter and not answering the question that was asked in the thread.

AMEN!!! Carter people are lame period lol

btw its asilaydying1984

i guess alot of members put :foot:

btw its rudemustang1

lol guys, Carter is one of the good guys, he gives alot of good information, get off his back!

He can do what ever he wants to to with his knife. If you don't like the video don't watch it. We got your back Carter!

Said the guy spending time reading and posting in this forum?????

Sorry, I couldn't resist. It seemed at the very least, extreemly ironic.

Did I say I never come here, or did I say I spend less time here than on other forums? I wouldn't call it "extreemly" ironic at all. This forum has a lot of nitpickers that whine about the most mundane of things.

You're damned if you do and you're damned if you don't. You get bashed for complaining about a scratch on your knife and you get bashed for using a knife hard. Definitely a tough crowd.

Exactly.

Interesting video in that the knife held up well as it was designed to do so that's a plus.

Now chopping through a 2x4 with a folder when it would be faster and easier to baton it through.......

Not really something that I would do unless it was an extreme circumstance and it was really needed and that's all I had on me.

But yeah in the end the knife held up great from the looks of it.

I think it's funny that these bashing remarks are being made in a "what's the toughest thing you have done with your Tuff thread" when my video is the only actual tough thing being done with the knife in this thread. Oh, and no hand was nicked, so no cherry on top for you. Generally I subscribe to the "use the propper tool for the job, a knife is meant for cutting mentality" but the designer himself has stated the extreeme stiffness of the lockbar and action was a necessary evil to produce A knife of this strength and a lockup that can handle the most brutal of tasks, I was simply putting it to use. If nobody actually uses this thing for anything but opening packages....what's the point? Just carry a para 2. So basically, be refuting my video you are saying the knife's point is null and void, which is a just fine opinion to have, but not the one you are talking about.

You showed the knife would hold up to hard use so it's a valid test. :)

Spyderco designed the knife to hold up under extreme use so this type of use would indeed be fine for that knife.

Perhaps those who are bashing the vid for chopping up a 2x4 should stick to thinking knives are just ornamental letter openers and box cutters. A knife is a tool first and foremost. A tool has many applications therefore a knife can be used in many applications. Carter showed how the Tuff can be put to the extreme. I applaud and respect those who actually use their knives instead of just looking at them and judging others for using them how they are intended to be used.

Like whining about other people whining. What's your definition of irony?
It's like saying "with all due respect" then following that statement with something disrespectful.
It's tough to fight fire with fire. If you hate on the nitpickers then stop nitpicking.
Arguing on the web is like winning the special olympics. You can fill in the punch line.

I've used mine for normal camp chores and it held up great as expected. The choked up grip is really surprising me. It tends to be the way I use the knife the most so far. Ed really designed this baby well. I used my fixed blade and axe for the heavy batoning and chopping but I did use the Tuff to split the smaller kindling up, make feather sticks, tinder shavings, carving toys for the kids etc. If I was stranded and had no other knife, it's good to know I could use my Tuff for batoning and it would most likely get me through the situation fine.

It makes shavings and feather sticks nicely and the 3V holds an edge really well when cutting wood. Of course it doesn't do pure slicing tasks quite as well as my M390 Millie and I wouldn't want to beat on it like I do my F1 but it can do a really wide range of tasks extremely well. It all depends on what you need your folder to do. If you like a really substantial, overbuilt, strong folder that can whittle wood, fight off grizzly bears, chop cars and 2x4 lumber in half then the Tuff is for you!

Funny. :D

The knife was designed to be a beater from the start so I am not sure why there would be any drama.

The knife is tough enough to handle most things people will do to it.

However, people are free to disagree on what constitutes proper use, insane use, or valid reviews.

Strangely, not everyone on the internet will agree with each other.
Weird!!!

I know. :D

I was just making a valid point. :)

One of the many reasons why I stopped doing that kind of testing. ;)

Fair enough.:)
If you baton a knife, you're an idiot.
If you don't baton a knife, you're a wimp.

Hmmm, seems the internet is alot like real life...whatever you do, it's wrong.

Unfortunately so far the toughest thing I've done with mine is open it. My thumb was sore for a couple of days.

Because this is the internet, and it is serious business.

Anyway, I'm gonna go chop a tree down with my CQC-7, just to see how angry the inter-nerds get. Solidarity for my bro Carter.

I don't see anyone angry over the video. Someone saying it's stupid does not equate to anger. Spending a few minutes chopping a 2x4 does very little to verify the toughness of the knife. Now if he did it to 100 2x4's with no noticeable wear that would be something.
