What's the toughest thing you have done with your Tuff?

I liked the video. Reminds me of some of the stuff I use to do with my knives back when I was younger and had energy! Lol. In all seriousness I don't see anything wrong with the video. It demonstrates what the knife can handle if the situation arises.

I don't see anyone angry over the video. Someone saying it's stupid does not equate to anger. Spending a few minutes chopping a 2x4 does very little to verify the toughness of the knife. Now if he did it to 100 2x4's with no noticeable wear that would be something.

true but their are a lot of other folding knives that would have had issues even before getting through that single 2x4

I thought you were supposed to keep this crap out of the forums. All those people that are bashing him are like a pack of wolves. Just let it go!!. You shouldn't be bashing another forum member. He was
Just testing the limits. I don't see the big deal. It is called the Tuff, shouldn't it be used. He never nicked his hand. Now this thread is all just bashing Carter and not answering the question that was asked in the thread.

According to who exactly? I'm still a paying member of this forum last I checked. You saying that a mod has no right to have an opinion? Oh please, let's not get all twisted up into knots over this. Don't get all sandy because people have differing opinions than your own. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

I think it's funny that these bashing remarks are being made in a "what's the toughest thing you have done with your Tuff thread" when my video is the only actual tough thing being done with the knife in this thread. Oh, and no hand was nicked, so no cherry on top for you. Generally I subscribe to the "use the propper tool for the job, a knife is meant for cutting mentality" but the designer himself has stated the extreeme stiffness of the lockbar and action was a necessary evil to produce A knife of this strength and a lockup that can handle the most brutal of tasks, I was simply putting it to use. If nobody actually uses this thing for anything but opening packages....what's the point? Just carry a para 2. So basically, be refuting my video you are saying the knife's point is null and void, which is a just fine opinion to have, but not the one you are talking about.
Don't take yourself so serious.

I think the issue here is the disrespect. It has nothing to do with one person's opinion of the video beyond the fact that it was called outright stupidity. Seriously, people can phrase things with a bit more tact especially on this forum. The issue with the "mod said X" thing is that, though you may be a paying member as well, the mod-status holds you up and means that you shoud be held to a higher level of accountability. Your opinion may have been that the video was stupid, but you could have formed your statement in a kinder manner and all of this would have been avoided.

Because he is a MOD he isn't allowed an opinion...... Really?

Ridiculous.... ;)

There's different perspectives. If your 10 year old kid starts pounding on your $200+ knife with a sledge hammer you go ballistic. If a manufacturer gets that knife back for warranty repair they say it's abuse. But if you buy a knife and want to make a bit of an art project out of it, that's just art.

One of the first big videos on the internet was the famous Purdue University professor who liked to play with liquid oxygen lighting his charcoal grill.

I can't tell with what manner that statement was intended; the smiley makes it a little ambiguous. I never said he wasn't entitled to his opinion, just that he could have given his opinion without having done it in such a derisive manner. For instance, he could have not included the statement about how an individual potentially hurting himself was the "cherry on top".

I find the sheer level of hypersensitivity regarding a video that came off as physical comedy amazing. Folks taking themselves seriously to the point of absurdity. The fact that I am a mod doesn't make the fact that you feel I should not have an opinion any clearer. When people do silly things with tools, what do you expect?

What accountability are you referring to? Did I actually insult anyone? No, I did not. You really need to grow some thicker skin and possibly accept that others in life might disagree with your perspective. For the record, I did phrase my thoughts with tact. Believe me. I am not the focus of this, so do not try and go there. The video is what we are discussing. Are people really upset because I didn't say, " Aww sweet! Right on Carter!!!11"?

You're right. There is no reason that you can not have an opinion, it's our differences that keep all of these great knife manufactures in business. But how often do you see Sal strolling around the forums belittling people? Now, you've been around here a lot longer than I but I've never seen anything other than helpfulness and kindness. The fact of the matter is that you wear the same badge as he does, and that means, like I stated before, that you are held to a higher standard. Paying or not. I know that even you will agree that because I'm also a paying member that that does not give me the right to be a jerk. So instead of spiting back and showing how internet tough you are why don't you consider taking a page out of the book of Sal; or at least consider rereading the first rule of posting.

If you were expressing your opinion you would have said something like "I wouldn't do that with my knife" not use it as an opportunity to take a jab at someone who did absolutely nothing to you; that's called being a troll.

I never said that. You went about it in a jerky way. I am not the only person who has said this, whenever someone starts saying bashing people on forums, the computer commandos come to action and start going right along with them. How about defending someone? He puts effort into these vids and people just shoot them down.

Agree with PWET and LMAO'ing about it too. :D

As I was watching the video I was thinking; Dam. This is a stupid video and then the first post I see is yours. Made me laugh.

Yeah, that doesn't really show anything aside from perhaps that the lock up is solid and secure, and it put a ton of unneeded miles on the knife's lock up and hardware.

Pretty stupid to do that with no glove or hand protection. What if the lock slipped? Coul have been some serious finger damage.

most stupid video ever. sorry.

Five bucks says I could saw through that 2X4 with the saw blade on my Wave in half the time it actually took him to beat it to death with his pocketknife. For that matter, I bet I could carve through it faster with a SAK. It seems there are a lot of folks with more money than sense any more, and it takes less money every year.

How is it these posts escaped your attention? Have at it.

should have been clearer.

the very fact of using a folder for chopping is stupid. but as other pointed, this one is made for that and it's good to have people testing stuff so you know that if ever one day the earth fail and all you've got in your pocket is your tuff, then you'll be able to superbly chop a 2x4 .....

i'm being sarcastic here but my more seriously i get to my point, there is a video of a guy chopping wood with a folder on youtube, just an exemple i found tonight while surfing, i can't post it because i havent figured how to do from my ipad but you will find it very easily googling "fantoni hb 01 tactical knife".

don't ask me why but this guy looks waaaaaaaay less stupid doing the exact same stuff than Mr xiuxiu .... i let you figure out why if you find the video.

ok i'll help, some ppl should stick with what they're good at or they'll look stupid, this guy is probably a good reviewer but he should stick with it and let someone else do the real life testing.

sorry again, just my opinion. glad i'm not a mod btw, i can freely say what i think. :D

Have you tried it with a lot of other folding knives? Has anyone that you know of? Or is that just speculation?
