What's the worst knife you've ever bought?

Gerber Paraframe 2. It's not a horrible knife, but I bought it when I didn't know anything about knives. I could have gotten something with a plain edge, better steel, and higher grind.

I have a friend, though, who did intentionally buy a horrible knife from Big 5 when he turned 18, just because he could finally legally walk into a store and buy a knife for himself.

I bought a no-name brand multi-tool years ago. I figured it had the same blades as the standard leatherman at that time.

The thing was useless. Poor steel and quality. I fad paid $20 (half price) for it and happily gave it away.

Oh I suppose a cheap keychain knife I bought in the 60's as a lad. I have no idea whatever became of it.
None of the other knives I've bought qualify as "bad". None has ever failed me.

Gerber mini Evo. I didn't know what I was doing. I needed a blade for work and I bought it on impulse at REI. My dad and old-timers at work told me Gerber was a quality brand, and I guess it used to be, but everything was wrong about this knife; bad ergonomics, terrible opener, etc. I have been using it lately to peel oranges :)

It would have to be an S & W folder I picked up for about $10 shipped. Horribly soft mystery steel that can't make even 10 passes through cardboard, flimsy liner lock that surprisingly hasn't failed on me and serrations that rip more than cut. But I still love it as a beater/dirty work knife.

I bought one of those really cheap ones, and as soon as I opened it the rocker arm cracked the plastic.
Fortunately, the store owner let me off free of charge.

Bought a cheap butterfly. After being disappointed and letting it sit in a drawer for six months, I touched it up a bit, switched out some pins, glued down the scales, removed the black coating (I'm pretty sure it was just acrylic paint), polished it, and gave it to a friend who is always playing with my knives.

frost cutlery flying falcon

bought it for $1, after the blade broke it made a good door stop lol

a painful rip-off of a boker folder which had a messed up dent ball;
which translated, meant that the blade tip/point kept suddenly poping out unannounced at the most inconvenient of times.

I once bought a Pakistani razor. Stropped the hell out of it, but was never able to get the edge close to shaving sharp. Just really crappy steel. Finally taped the edge and threw it away.

I bought a switch blade in a tourist shop in Ensenada Mex. It flipped open just 4 times till it broke. What a piece of !#$%#! How does china expect to seen as a super power when they only produce crap!

I think it’s at the bottom of the pacific write now.

About 10 years ago I bought 2 Smith and Wesson linerlocks along with some other stuff from CDNN on the cheap. I didn't know much about non-traditional knives at the time and thought it would be fun to change up. I tossed one of the S&W's in my pocket and maybe used it a few times over the course of about 10 days. One day I reach in my pocket and I feel some loose screws and parts floating around. Come to find out, the knife had fallen apart right in my pocket!!!

Thinking it was a fluke, I tossed it in the trash and put the other one in my pocket. About 2 weeks later, I reach in my pocket while I was driving to get my knife out and gashed the hell out of my hand as the second knife had fallen apart just like the first and the blade and scales were totally loose in my pocket!! I threw the motherf@#$%er out the window and went back to my SAK/Case until I found a Kershaw Boa a few years later. I now have a great collection of good kershaws, spydies, etc. :D

Kind of similar to someone who posted above, but when I first turned 21 I went out and bought myself a couple cheaper knives partly as a gift to myself and partly because the area I lived and went to school in was shady.

One of the knives was an M-Tech folder and although it looked awesome, it couldn't cut anything and it was kind of just dangerous to me more than anything else. One day, I was flipping it open, and suddenly I see a tiny screw go flying out. My handle starts swinging apart, and after that I just use it for sharpening practice.

A Mossberg lockback that I bought on clearance at Meijer. They had 4 of them, marked down from $9.99 to $2.99. I bought all four. I figured they'd be good on the workbench or in the toolbox, if nothing else. Well, it was nothing else. I broke all four of them at the pivot within a matter of minutes.

I had a bunch of Fury brand knives that are now trashed or parts, they make the smith and wesson knives look sturdy by comparison.

Me and a buddy back in high school each bought a pakistani fixed blade at the flea market. Nice wooden handle and everything. We got them for the express purpose of throwing.

Proceeded to destroy each knife chucking them at a plywood target. Didn't take long for the handle to fly off. Amazingly, the tang was only about half an inch! We continued to chuck just the blade, and it worked even better. Definitely the cheapest/worst knife I ever bought, but it sure did provide a couple of good hours of entertainment!

My first custom knife as it started me on the road to where there is no return from.
