What's the worst knife you've ever bought?

Years ago ebay sold auto knives without any real rules. I bought a couple cheap chinese "italian switchblade" knives and the springs broke on both of them within a year.

You know, every knife I've ever bought has a been a learning experience: they have allowed me to understand what it is that I like in a knife.

If I had to pick a worst knife, it would probably be a tie between the Sage 2 and BM 940.

Gerber Applegate/Fairbairn Covert folder. 1st gen. I'm amazed that this model has been in production for so many years. It is a POS of the highest order. Absolute crap. I paid full retail too. (This was before I became a knife enthusiast). Detent ball fell out. Various screws fell out. Clip has no "spring" and loses it's grab. Just a piece of junk from one end to the other.

If I was a kid and got one of these for Christmas, I'd throw it away and play with the box. ;)

I bought an Emerson, off ebay. When I opened it, it was a counterfeit from China. When I complained, they refunded my money and let me keep the knife.

A CRKT Zillatool. The liner lock is too long, so it cannot lock open. I never get around to trying to see if I could get it fixed under warranty because I was never going to carry or use it. I got it at a going-out-of-business sale out of curiosity.

The worst I didn't buy was a Chinese imitation SAK that was included free with an order. The blades are pot metal so soft I can bend them back and forth and have them stay in that position.

Some Rambo knockoff knife from the early 90's. I think today a company called Maxam sells an evolved version of it. It looked cool with its crocodile back serrations, but the steel was crap. Despite my best effort at sharpening it could hardly push cut paper. A friend borrowed it and never returned it. I didn't care enough to ask.

My Kershaw Zing. Thing has a very uneven grind and the blade doesn't lock up tight and its not even close to center when folded. I bought it cuz I have a thing for orange and I liked the blade design.

By FAR the worst folding knife I've ever bought was the Gerber Paraframe. It couldn't cut anything except paper, and by paper I mean opening envelopes. I used one to try to open a blister-pack of some kind and I ended up almost stabbing myself! It put a number of pathetic scratches on the plastic, and I finally had to use a Cold Steel Night Force to open it. I gave the Paraframe away to a person who loves it; but the steel is the worst steel I've ever seen in a knife, and that includes the knives I've seen in Dollar Stores!

S&W m&p. Safety failed on day one. Don't care enough to send it in to be fixed. Just total garbage

Early days when I was duped into buying a fake Extrema Ratio folder. It turned out to be a china made linerlock with crappy steel.

CRKT mini kiss or some stupid name like that....marketed as a money clip....a folder with no frame. The knife edge waits until you reach into your pocket when you are drunk at a bar....oh look, I'm bleeding.

Bear & Son damascus small folder with a liner lock. The lock goes all the way

to the right. Push down with a moderate amount of force twice.....the blade

folds up= POS. :thumbdn:

A Schrade X-Timer liner lock that turned into a fixed blade the first time I flicked it open.
