What's the worst knife you've ever bought?

CRKT mini kiss or some stupid name like that....marketed as a money clip....a folder with no frame. The knife edge waits until you reach into your pocket when you are drunk at a bar....oh look, I'm bleeding.

Hmm, I've never had that problem with my CRKT K.I.S.S. It is actually one of my favorite gentleman's folders, and has been for about a decade.

A really cheap Pakistan slipjoint that I bought at a flea market for a couple of bucks. I checked to see if there was any blade play, and the blade fell off. And I am usually a fan of Pakistan, becuase sometimes they are not a POS.

The bowie on the bottom.
In my own defense it was pre-internet, I was broke and needed a knife fix.
A $10 knife fix from SMKW... ya get whatcha pay for.
It's like trying to sharpen butter.

The others were gifts from the same time period...

a junky pocket knife i bought at wal mart a long time ago. black plastic handles, cheap steel, half the time it would not even lock.

My dad bought me a snap-on multi-tool once. It is seriously as dull as a butter knife. Like rounded edge dull. Nice quality.

I have to say that I once bought a Kellam Fang and it failed/broke on the first baton. Luckily, they took it back. I didn't want another; I just asked for my money back.

China made rip off of the Buck 110 design. Rubber where the brass normally is. It was a gift but it still sucks.

Some folder in Italy (13 euros, and that was at least 13 overpriced) with some kind of bone scales. It fell apart in less than a week of use. The parts now live in a ziploc bag somewhere.

I decided that the first couple of 'mistakes' that I purchased DON"T COUNT. Afterall ignorance is still BLISS!

Gerber Paraframe 2. It's not a horrible knife, but I bought it when I didn't know anything about knives. I could have gotten something with a plain edge, better steel, and higher grind.

Wow. That's my story too......
imagine that.

I find this difficult to believe.

What happened?
I purchased them all for the purpose of being something I could use in public without people acting like I was walking around with a hockey mask and machete. For my uses, the blades (particularly the steel) leave something to be desired. Mine all seemed to have a problem with chipping out regularly. Also not comfortable in my larger hands. Less than 3 finger grip wasn't good. I'm not saying they are terrible, just for me. Too tough to get tools/blades out for me as well.

Vic steel is pretty soft and it would roll rather than chip. It won't win awards for edge retention because Victorinox would rather have a cheap but tough stainless steel. What is your typical use? This is an honest question.

I bought a "bucket knife" (the ones for sale in a bucket at the register) once because I dropped my knife off the pier while fishing. I never felt so bad spending $3.00 before. It cut one piece of bait then broke apart in my hand.
I was given a S&W SWAT folder back in 1999? and that was a BIG p.o.s. too!

I bought a switch blade in a tourist shop in Ensenada Mex. It flipped open just 4 times till it broke. What a piece of !#$%#! How does china expect to seen as a super power when they only produce crap!

I think it’s at the bottom of the pacific write now.

I bought a 500 dollar OTF Microtech that broke after opening it 4 0r 5 times. I got it fixed and sold it fast. No more microtechs for me.

smith and wesson SWAT auto. after a year it either pops open by iteslf, or wont close

I also had an spring assisted smith and wesson swat knife. Maybe a week after I bout it
With light use the spring stopped working now its just a regular folder
And there is a lot of blade play

By far, the worst functioning knife I bought that wasn't a cheap P.O.S. was a BM Nitrous Stryker. The day I opened the box I could grab the the blade and flex it and the lockbar would dance a tango on the tang. Plus the deployment was very hard on the thumb until you got the right deployment angle with your thumb loaded in muscle memory. Even then, you couldn't "play with it" without wearing your thumb out pretty quickly. I still have that thing in a box ready to go back to BM but I just haven't sent it yet. It's been in my closet for a couple years that way.

A Gerber E Z Out from Walmart.

I plan on using it for sharpening practice until there is no blade left. :-)

I have bought lots of crappy no name no brand china made knives in my early years. I used them for attempting to cut stuff before i got my first gerber and then cold steel and othe real knives. The crappiest name brand knife i got was my gerber paraframe. I tried to use it as a knife but it wouldnt get very sharp or hold its crappy edge. I ended up taking it appart and now I use the blade as a dedicated firesteel striker. It preforms very well in that task.
