What's up with the Cold Steel hate around here?

Don't like the man, don't like his brash over-the-top style, don't like his business ethics, don't like his outrageous claims. Won't give him my business.

Of any knife that he markets, I can find equal and better elsewhere.

5 pages of wasted band width, all because some cold steel fan boi is not feeling the love. Geez, what a dog's breakfast of a thread.
Mannlicker, if you would have read a little closer you'd see that I'm not a Cold Steel fanboy, just wanted to have a civil discussion thats all. Sorry if it offends you, Mannlicker. If you wouldn't mind, send me a pm and let me know what threads you think I should make in the future. :)

BTW you have posted on this "dog's breakfast" thread twice now, including the very first response.

PharoahX3,

Based just on your 2 posts above, you may want to tone things down a bit before the Mods come down on you.

Thanks for the tip, CWL, but theres nothing in those posts that is offensive aside from being a bit sarcastic. The posts I was responding to are a direct insult to me, however. Perhaps the mods will take a look at those.

Cold Steel is a particularly "hot" topic, with lots of people either hating or loving them. When you make a posting asking for comments, the emotions will fly, and some people won't remember to keep it civil. You may be seen as purposely trying to "goad" members here into less-than-civil argument.

Don't get so heated that you get dinged or banned by the Mods.

Thanks again for the tip, man. I sure hope I'm not viewed as trying trying incite unrest here at BF, just wanted to have a discussion that's all. Still kinda new here and it looks like I may have stepped on a land mine inadvertently. I think I'll bow-out now and let this thread continue on it's own...

I don't care for CS knives so much, particularly their folders (which is what I tend to focus on). I do have a fb of theirs: the Kobun. Put a new edge on it and it hasn't left the shelf since. Just not my cup of tea.

My edc's are a Sebenza or a Hinderer but I owned nothing but a CS Voyager for years which I gifted to my son. Ya see, this place educated me that they were junk.

I don't see a darn thing wrong with liking your CS knife. We all have different tastes but what's important is that we're all brother (and some sisters) knife nuts! ;)

I have never had a problem with any of my CS knives. The knives all came well centered, blazingly sharp and well made. I frequently use my $7 'Kudu' around the house and when I want it shaving sharp, 20 seconds on a strop will do it. Given the amount of use my CS knives get, vs. the purchase price, I have found them to be a good value.

I suppose I don't care for them because im a knife snob. Calphalon makes good pans but I have de buyer, and like le creuset and all clad because I'm a kitchen snob too :)

Believe it or not I have several (well many) Cold Steel Blades. They have marketed some good value knives (and some not so good). But after the years I have dealt with them and the thousands of dollars I have spent I doubt I would ever buy another Cold Steel knife. If I could trade the Cold Steel I have for Half the number of "like" blades I would count myself as being way ahead. I just don't want to support the kind of people who own and control that Company. While they have many good people in their employ the bad ones, not limited to LCT, sort of spoil it for the rest of them.

LCT often tells of how he was bullied as a child. His solution was to Prove himself to be the better bully and now showers himself with awards and meaningless certificates while claiming to be the best bully of them all. He, in someways, became what he hated most as a boy, he claims all that he can, which is way more than he is due, IMHO.

I actually like the videos, just looks like fun. I've always wanted the 6' ti lite or I call it the pig sticker. Also really like that gladiator machete, the tuff lite folder, and the American lawman. Some of there stuff looks cool. Not that I would actually buy one though... Why would I use some CCC when when I got all these nice American blades lying around.

Like it or not Lynn Thompson is rolling in the dough. I for one like CS knives (mostly the voyagers and other folders sporting the triad-lock) in general and have found them to be very well built as far as F&F and construction is concerned. I don't particularly care for his over the top antics or marketing tactics, or more outlandish products with that being said I've come love my Spetznaz shovel and I do own and enjoy a .625 magnum blowgun, sue me I like to have fun. I guess that makes me a bit of a hypocrite.

Yeah, some of the mall ninja stuff is fun. I thought you were supposed to have fun with your hobbies.

I have a number of CS products. The arguments against LT and the company are valid. The arguments that CS produces fun stuff to play with at a price and quality level that others don't match is also valid. It is what it is. I buy US products when possible. If the wanted item is not produced in the US at an affordable price or quality, mainly materials, then the search goes elsewhere. The tail chasing starts every time this topic is brought up, we tend to get nowhere in a hurry. Buy what you like and like what you buy. On this particular discourse the pros and cons are stepping stones that can be stood upon to keep my balls off of the fence.:p
