What's with all the Flakes lately?

10-4 buddy!

I never doubted you for a second! ;)

It appears that the issue with Chad Was resolved at some point. He did give the buyer a refund after 3 months. I mean, selling the same knife to 3 different people and thinking that no one is going to say anything. Simply amazing.

1) I am not going to reread that other thread again and so I might be incorrect but I thought that he only made a partial refund to one of the parties ($380 instead of ???).

2) If the two accounts are the same person, then the fact that they overlap in time plus the action of opening a new account to aviod negative feedback on an old account should give abundant cause for banning.

Thanks Rev for all the BS you put up with around here (including my own).

Scammer. Duplicate accounts. * splash * him. Too many flakes and thieves. Find one, feed him to the fish. They have no mercy on the honest members here.

just had a guy "can you hold it until payday?"....like a maroon I said yes...payday comes and he'll get in trouble with the gf and can't buy it. I'm on like page 9 now trying to sell it. :grumpy:

my fault for trying to be a nice guy.

The position of the "pipe lighter post" above made me think this was a question about the preponderance of flake. [That`s a type of pipe tobacco].
Now lemme just read this post...

rpn,
I had to laugh when I read that; been there - done that - have the T-shirt!
I believe it's a small minority, but when you run into a guy like that who doesn't believe his word is his bond --it hurts only you.

I've asked a couple members to do this for me before. I knew I wanted the items to begin with and knew full well I was "on the hook" for those items. They did not have any problems doing that for me. It may have had more to do with me being a mod on one occasion than knowing I would pay independently. I appreciate some folks being the nice guy, it shows faith in the community and that people will do the right thing. Don't let a bad experience sour you.

I have held items for buddies in here MANY MANY times
I have also offered payments to buddies I have worked with often
If s&^% happens and they cant come thru..
Well if the shoe where on the other foot..Id be grateful to the person that let me off the hook.
It happens.. Its happened to me. Family stuff.. Unexpected repair etc.,
Do unto others goes a LONG way in our BF family...
These folks in here at the very least 95% Are the best anywhere.....................

My worst flake was a member who contacted ME about a knife. We made the deal to trade, I shipped mine off, no word from him. Time goes on, I email- he tells me that he now has reservations about shipping the fixed blade to Canada, and is refusing my parcel. I ended up having one set of shipping costs paid, but had to pay the return shipping to get my parcel in hand, and the other member complained to me and told me he was putting me on ignore as I was a whiny crybaby. Yep, you contact me and I end up out $30 because you flake on your deal. But he hid behind the "no transaction is done until both parties are satisfied" as his excuse for backing out, yet I was told that iTrader was not to be used because the transaction was not completed and I got my knife back. Still left out of cash with no lasting way to put forward my frustrations. It sucks, especially as I now automatically have a negative opinion of others with a similar name, and one of those gentlemen is a great poster in the Traditional Forum. That is why I look at a poster's post history. I prefer to deal with those who are members here- if you are just a flipper/buyer who is more concerned with profit and perfection I may turn down any offers based solely on the lack of community spirit. I'm here for the camaraderie, community and cutting, not profit, and flipping. I'm actually glad that many posters don't want my ugh- USED knives. I'm actually quite sick of nit-picking over tiny tiny features that affect resale prices. It seems like profit makes most of the stress on this site. I've never had an issue when trading two used knives, we don't fall under the illusion of perfection!

Rant/ramble over I guess ;)

Please share who did this. I wouldn't want to sell one of my knives, & give a great deal to a member who did something like this!

[/QUOTE] exactly, Some here think what they type or retype matters about a member. Truth is I look at itrade and read reviews. Sadly that 5% do a lot of typing but they don't have a high itrade themselves or even none. Money and how someone treats others dealing with money shows more than made up ghost hunts. If a member here, and I can think of one Big member who has unreal knives but go to certain areas he is a POS, truth he is stellar, a great guy, well over 100 sales/buys and never once a problem. You going to trust the BANK or the Barber shop. The exchange is the real part of the forum, and like you Giz, I have loaned money, allowed members to make payments and been loved and hugged in Itrade.
But read elsewhere and that same member may be blasting you, That my friend is where the honor and lack of comes in. It seems some think it is o.k. to beg or ask in the exchange, but blast otherwise. A member is either good or not, you can't be both. I would not buy from anyone I disliked or did not trust, period.

Though we have excellent and honest members', flakes/scammers/less-than-honest ones are also gaining ground. More often than not I receive lowball, and folks who say "take it", and go AWOL. Recently I also had a member negotiate a price for shipping to Canada, and then started dictating how I should be shipping it - separate the bearing washers, tighten the pivot, ship USPS Flat Rate Priority (International), and falsify custom papers. I was little short of sending a f* note, but then politely refused stating I won't disassemble the knife. Needless to say, he is on my ignore list. There are also those who mis-represent a knife and then pretend they never knew about it (increasing trend across all forums), and refuse to make it even.

The only way to deal with dishonest folks is to state a firm price (low enough that you'll accept), be clear on the rules of sale - write them down in the post, not accept trades, and ignore lowballers and those who don't wish to live by the rules. Of course, there are exceptions, and especially folks who are good people.
