whats your all time fav sandwich?

All time fav is a Ruben, but here in the 'burg, there is a place called Primanti's that makes their famous sandwich- any choice of meat (my fav is Pastrami) with fried egg. Then they pile on the cole slaw (not the mayonasy kind- more like a sweet and sour German style) and top it off with a fist full of french fries. It is made between two thick slices of Mancini's Italian bread. Nothing better:)

Peanut butter, lettuce and mayonaise on wheat toast.
Tomato, onion, mayo and spam on fresh white bread.

My fav sammy is the Ruben, served with potato salad and a bowl of clam chowder...Yum, yum...:D.

Lucky me. This thread got me wanting a Rueben in a big way, and I just happened to have the opportunity to make it to The Corner Cafe in Riverside MO today, and got just what I wanted. Life is good.:D

Another vote for the Monte Cristo! That was what my wife and I got on the night that we became engaged, so it has emotion as well as taste going for it.

I also love a Virginia ham and raw onion sanwich, Southern style (with mayonnaise).

Peanut Butter & Jelly is my #1 but also Peanut Butter & Beacon & as a kid I remember butter & sugar on a slice of bread

Hot Roast Beef and Cheddar on an Onion Roll!

(and none of that Arby's crap, has to be deli stuff)

Great thread...

Lots of people here swear by bread and dripping with a little salt.

I think it's disgusting.

Andrew.

Wasz I've seen the PRIMANTI BROS. on the Food Network at different times when they did series on " BEST SANDAWICH ". Awsome meal in 2 hands lol.

I can't forget Plain White bread. Butter and Peanut Butter and Concord Grape jelly.

I would do physical violence for a "real" oyster po' boy right about now...
remoulade, good bread... mercy. who gets the beating? :p

Best meat -n- bread (albeit flatbread) combo I've ever had was a real, live gyro I bought from a little Greek place while driving lost in Queens Astoria. A garlicky, lamb-loaf packed gut bomb from hell. A $3.75 meal I will never forget.

Absent that, I'd have to go with an 8 ounce ribeye with provolone, tomato, lettuce, and deli mustard.

the deli i work at has a sandwich called 'THE SKULL'
its a cheesesteak made with sliced top round, with mozz. sticks and onion rings in the sandwich. and ketchup. possibly the biggest cheesesteak ever.

Try a torta with avocado and cilantro, or toast with mayo, avocado, bacon, and tomato.

The rueben from Undo's in Benwood, WV is great. Durty Nellie's in Charlottesville, VA, made some fantastic sandwiches "back in the day", but I haven't been there for a while.

The best sandwich I ever ate was for lunch while rabbit hunting. My mom's meat loaf on white bread with mayo. That was almost 40 years ago and I still remember it.

My wife has nicknamed me "Sammy" 'cause I normally make sammiches out of just about anything.

Can't pick just one.

Basic, Skippy Crunchy w/Smuckers Strawberry preserves on white (can't do this anymore because of recent nut allergy development dammit).

When goin to OSU, Bernies had a pastrami, swiss, and chopped chicken liver on an onion/egg bun. Ah, serum cholesterol at its finest.

Just about anything works for me, except canned tuna based items. :barf: :barf: :barf:

Saw where Falters Brand franks were mentioned. That is a local meat packer, and they have great meats. Went to school with Bobby and CJ, and some high school buddies still work there. Good choice. (I still have one of the old "Falters - You can't beat our meat" t-shirts...hehe)

" Falter's " is still going strong. Sadly most chain grocery stores don't carry them.
PPL have switched for these " multi-filled..chicken-turkey parts" that are left of poultry hooks. There like mush...Ewwww.

I got the idea of steaming Hot Dogs in beer from "LUMS" when they were in town.

BTW I've never heard of "Falter's" products being recalled.

Peanutbutter , bacon and egg . The egg should be sunny side up so the yolk acts as a spread .
