What's your "beater" 2015

Gayle Bradley (3years and counting of EDC rotation), Delica (approaching 9 years of EDC rotation) and Atlantic Salt (3years and counting of EDC rotation). All reground by me recently so they look new and shiny, except the nice patina on the GB flats.

It's best to get one now Surf. Most of them I've seen have been going up in value to 250-300. Probably level out at 275.
It's really an incredible Knife. My only issue is that all the ones I'm had fail the spine test really easily. That's their only real issue.

The term ''beater knife'' is a irrelevant, but if I had to pick one it would be the para 2, it surely is a though hombre.

I've always wished spyderco would do ffg on their serrated knives, clean lines on those regrinds man!

My PM2 is my beater. It's been to hell since day 1 and it's soaked up every bump. My Bus. partner chipped the tip and I ground it down on the top a little at the very end and it's a sharp point again. It has a couple small dings in the G10, but still works like a champ. I rarely need a beater though so I usually EDC the large double lug insingo or ritter mini grip.

What would you guys consider "beater" tasks?

To me the task of "beater" is defined by any knife that I don't mind if I bump it on something and get a scratch, cut through something at any time anywhere without second guessing...handling the task that I would reach for my pocket to grab my knife - not beat on as in chisel with, or pry with etc.

Basically if I could bump the clip on the wall and go "OH SH!T", then look down at it repeatedly upset about said scuff/scratch/character mark that is NOT a beater to me...if I bump the wall get a gouge in the clip and keep going like nothing ever happened = beater...

EXAMPLE - my newly acquired GB Folder....it has seen move safe time than the shelves in the safe...I can't bring myself to carry or use the dang thing....even though I REALLY want to....just can't seem to do it....

For what it's worth, the Tuff I bought would fail pretty casually if you tried that as well. I wore gloves, held it carefully and gave it a soft rap on a leather strop I laid over the end of a table and it came unlocked. It wasn't even a whack, really, more of a light thump. :(

In that case my Sebenza is my beater! I love getting new scratches scuffs on it [emoji57]

How do you like that serrated Native? I've been into other brands lately but a serrated Native lightweight keeps popping up in my list of next knife to get.
The Native's full serrated version is great because it leaves about .5" of plain edge at the tip. It's great for detailed work, unlike most fully serrated tips, while still having enough serrations to be useful, unlike most combination edge knives.

I know you already got answers, just thought I'd throw that in there.

I noticed that! I know that there are some more aggressive serrations out there like the very which can be custom ground to any knife but by and large Spyderco serrations are really excellent as are a few other brands out there!

Thanks. The two models that I wish I could find in FFG serrated are the Military and original Para.

Thinly ground serrated knives are really good workhorses.

Some of your beaters are my grails. I love that you all actually use your knives. Awesome!

I've seen a bunch of dudes put "veff" serrations on a PM2, pretty sick! I'm not quite sure if they got Tom Veff to do them or if they did it themselves!

Man, mine is low class compared to the others here! It's a Byrd Cara Cara 2 with a zip tie wave! Best 20 bucks ever spent!!

This Endura is my go-to beater.
I took the bevel down to 17 dps and it's a great slicer even with the saber grind.

My pm2 has become my new "beater". I'm the same as someone above, I define a beater as a knife I'm not worried about roughing it up. It's the second most expensive knife I own. #1 is a Southard and i just wasn't comfortable carrying it at work because of how much I paid for it. The pm2 is just a perfect beater knife imo. I really want a sprint in another steel. I wanted a Gayle Bradley before I got the pm2 but not as much now. I'll probably still get one at some point.

The Cara Cara 2 is solid, I pitted the serrated version against a Domino doing yard work and the Cara Cara out cut the Domino.
