Whats your best deal you ever got on a knife?

I got a WW2 Kabar MKII, UDT model with the original sheath for free. Gotta love grandmothers and hand-me-downs. I only with my grandfather was still around to fill me in on how it came into his possession.

A Kershaw Random Leek for $30. Well... I should clarify... MY cost was $30. Someone gave me a regular Kershaw Leek (a gift), which is valued at about 40 dollars... and it wasn't functioning correctly. I got in touch with Kershaw about sending it back for repairs. Just for kicks, I asked them if it would be possible to let me *upgrade* to the S30V Random Leek. They said SURE, just include a check for $30 dollars along with the defective knife, and they sent me a brand new Random Leek!! =)

Gotta love Kershaw's customer service department!!

It's hard for me not to find a good deal on a knife. Since my folks run a knife shop, whenever I go see them, they give me the family discount of getting whatever at their cost. It's nice to pick up some very nice knives for very little green.

A former member of the forums gave me my prized possession Strider Nightmare GB, with trit. thumbstuds and contoured scales. Free.

Mike :)

if I told you I wouldn't be able to get that deal again.....:jerkit:

I once got a Spyderco Dodo new from an internet site for $50 with free shipping. I also got a William Henry Ironwood Kestrel for $139 new from a different internet site. I figured both were typos on the websites but I ordered them and received them promptly.

I picked up a Benchmade 690 with all carbon fiber scales for $80 at a gun show last month. It was in brand new condition. I pulled the money out of my pocket so fast my pants caugt on fire. Another knife vendor about 5 tables away was selling one for $275. It became my new EDC.

I traded a Hardy reel for a mint pre 64 Puma White Hunter in the original wooden box and a Pat Mitchell Cutlers knife. I had two of the reels and only needed 1 !!!

I hate to rub it in, but I have had several screaming deals come my way. At a flea market I bought two brand new knives for $50 each, one was an original SOG Tigershark (S5? sk5? Carbon steel) and the other was a Blackjack Rio Grande Bowie (Warner/Moran), another time a guy at work sold me two brand new knives for $70, a SOG Tech and a Gerber MK II. At a pawn shop once I got a used Blackjack Skinner w/stag handle, the original effingham blackjack, for $35. But, to this day, I still lay awake at night about the one that got away. A guy had a huge bowie he wanted to sell me for a hundred bucks, but at that time I had never heard of the Al Mar Alaskan Bowie, so I passed on it. Damn.

I bought a Strider PT for $250 today.

(EDIT)
Well it was 12:01 AM when it hit the post button, so I guess it was yesterday when I bought the knife.

My brother gave me an original WWII Case V-42 stiletto, complete with sheath. He inherited it from his father-in-law, who served in the 1st Special Services during the war. My brother almost had a seizure when I gave him an idea of what it was worth. He didn't ask for it back though. :)

At a gun show last week-end a gentleman came to my table and announced in front of my potential customers that he just purchased one of my custom knives for $20. (Nothing on my table for less than $90.) he told us that he went to a garage sale where evidently the wife was a little miffed at her husband and was selling off all his sporting goods. "I missed the shot gun and the golf clubs but I got a nice knife for $20." Ouch.

I bought a 1920s Case greenbone pen knife never sharpened, $3, and an old mint condition unsharpened E. Weck pearl handled pen for $5, do they count?

Either of the two early Bowies from Sunfishman in the last couple of weeks, his first Bowie and his first forged Bowie.Deals like this are few and far between. :D

I did once get a KaBar shorty for $13.00 from an internet dealer. It was a typo, but in my defense I did not realize it until I searched around and found out that it normally about 35-40 dollars. Store told me it was a typo, but honored the deal.

Got a Strider mark1a for doing some favors for a good friend

Got a Strider GB from a friend for free, decided it was to big for what I do, so I am getting it cleaned up to send it back, since I know he will put it to good use
