What's your camp knife?

Depends a lot on what and where. For hunting, a good FB like Master Hunter, Marble's Campcraft, Dozier K1. But lately, a good folder if I'm carrying everything on my back, the lighter, the better: Sebbie 21, Para 2, American Lawman, Military.

All of yall's camp knives look cherry! :D I have quite a variety of blades that I will backpack in with me to our primitive site.

Becker BK20 and Fiddleback Bushfinger; after I acquired these I stopped looking for anything else so they must be the ultimate combo. The picture lies, they both have nearly two years of use between the two of them but they hide their wear too well.

Once you strip a Becker and replace the handle scales, it looks brand new (for about a week, anyways!) it’s the stubborn patina that prevents it being resold as “brand new.”
Kidding, obviously

I don't that if that's directed at me, but I'll be knocking the pretty off my new Busse the next time I get out into the woods -- i just need the sheath to arrive! :D

My family camps a few times every summer, and I usually make it out on a couple hikes as well. This knife will have some miles on it by Fall.

I don’t think it was, you stated that you just got the knife! When I see what they go for on the exchange I’m reluctant to use a brand new busse! There are enough “users” on the exchange I’d rather buy one of those for actual use. I scored my MMD with buy brown sheath for $200, just had to completely redo the edge.

For heavy use for main camp with vehicle, car, canoe, boat, air plane, aerospace ftl craft, I use the SP-53 for the main whopper and chopper, yes an axe is used also since one can pack things in.

Non vehicle outings the SP-51 as the straight blade is easier to do, this is for main heavy stuff.

Others that do other things like the RD-9, BK-9, for medium to heavy stuff multi-tools, the CS Maurder is used for light to medium, I find its nice curved Aus8A blade is great for fish!

Host of middling knives and such as for heavy the RD line 6, 7, Tanto, and soon a NS7. These are for HEAVY stuff to light duty, these have never failed me.

Rest middlings a mix from hunting knives to KA-BAR types.

I ALWAYS pack a buck 110 or gerber gator with a bigger knife for pairing.

Of course as some things never go according to plan I usually grab what will fulfill the need or closest to it. Like the SP-10 I got first for Look-ti-Cool turned to be a great all round literal beater blade and such. One thing I had to do was put my OKC Woodsman and Gerber BDZ-1 strongarm in the strictly hunting gear stuff, the non coated blades are what I prefer for game cutting down to literal sizing stuff. But then we all know what happens to a well thought out plan after it meets contact with reality.

Either of these. Camillus OVB Bowie, designed by the one, the only, Jerry Fisk.

One is in Desert Ironwood, and one in Fiddleback Maple.

I like the maple one the best, but that's me. My boys like the ironwood one better.

This piece came in a couple other handle materials as well, and I'll buy them as I find them too.

Some people don't like the handle because they say it creates hotspots, do you have an opinion on it?
I like the handle but, it does take some getting used to. You need to grip farther forward than on most field or bushcraft knives. It's nice for detail work. The only real complaint I have with the handle is the material. I would prefer micarta over G10.

Overall, the knife seems decent enough. It seems to handle everything I have used it for without much of a problem. I would not want the blade any shorter but, if Benchmade offered a 4 or 5 inch FFG version for food prep. I would buy it.

For food prep, a SAK has always got the job done. For wood prep such as splitting larger pieces into smaller ones, I use a special wood chopping tool called an "axe" and for cutting lengths of wood, I use a special tool called a "saw".

Last year I picked up a Spyderco Temperance 2 thinking it just might be the best camping knife for me. Turns out it was. I love my Ratmandu, which has been my camp knife for awhile, but the spydie has taken it’s place.

Camping = Beckers.

BK-5 "Magnum Camp" for food prep and the like.
BK-2 "Campanion" for literally just about everything and anything that needs to be done in/around camp.
BK-4 and/or BK-9 for wood processing.
BK-16 (Ethan's favorite) or 15 or 17 on the belt.

I've got this one I'm gonna give a go this summer.
Casstrom #10 Swedish Forest Knife in Sandvik 14C28N.

Fallkniven F1 is my go to. Simple but perfect. Kinda ruined buying fixed blades for me cause it's the only one I want to use.
