What's your cut-off point?

About $200, preferably less though, around $150. But I do want to get a small sebenza with micarta soon so Ill have to change my budget to about $400 for that one. But then it will go back down.

About $130. My Nakamura cost $110, but almost all of my knives are right around $50.

For a while my cut off was around $200 for a folder, but it has dropped down down to around $75 lately. I just don't see the point any more, I was never into fancy knives. They're all users anyway. For fixed blades I don't think I'd spend over $100 unless it was something collectible, and for investment purposes. Although right now all my fixed blades cost less then $60.

I'm heavily considering the Umnumzaan right now, so I guess it's going up.

Just over $200 was the limit before.

I don't really have a limit.

If it's something I can really use and/or I feel it's at the top of the game, I'll buy it.
I've saved for months before. Just because you don't make a lot of money, doesn't mean you can save up for what you really want. Plus, you tend to value it more.

Thus far it's $409 but I can see stretching that to $500 for the right knife; probably a custom slip-joint.

The $400 I just spent on my umnumzaan is the upper limit for now. Jill, you should have given it more of a chance. Each passing day I appreciate the knife more and more. I feel it is worth every penny of the $400.

I understand many love it and I don't expect them to agree with my decision not to keep it.
But, the fact is if I don't feel a knife when I first hold it, it doesn't grow on me with time. I gave the Umnumzaan a shot and I truly felt I'd rather have the B/M 610 and the ZT0300 instead of just it for 400.

$500-$800 for a folder and $300-$400 for fixed (before sheath, so, add another $100 or so)

The funny thing is that my favorite EDC right now is a Kershaw Zing. I love that little knife. Jill, I have 5 ZT0300 series knives. They are great and I am sure you will like it, but, you might want to consider picking up another ZT0200. There isn't a knife on the market that feels as good in the hand as that one.

I would say about $100 is my realistic limit. My latest purchases have been $30 and below so I'm about due for a pricier purchase.

For folder: 110€ mark ( but I'd never take such valuable knife easily on outdoors though ) 65€ mark is mark now that I'd be willing to spend EDC which I would actually carry everyday and not put it on my collection.

I might be willing to spend up to 8,000 € mark for handmade katana, albeit real, named ones cost nearly double that with reputable seller with certification of authencity... Well, I'd be willing to spend if I would have such money, which atm I can only dream...

200 for a production folder and a bit more if it is automatic.

I rather wait for private market place than run for a new one.

It all depends on the knife, but so far ~$200 has been the rule for folders, and I think I might spend a maximum of ~$500 for a fixed blade.

Furthermore, I try to only buy Spyderco folders and only buy fixed blades from a few other companies. This is an attempt to limit my spending a little more than I would have otherwise.

Production knives: limit of about $250.00

Custom Knives; limit of about $500.00

All amounts above are subject to change at any time.:)

My waki, at $540 after shipping and sheath, was a pretty extreme outlier for me. Usually my limit is $250...and only for a really good and useful fixed blade at that. Generally I stick to sub $100-$150 folders. If I get a Sebenza or XM18 one of these days, that will change.

Most I paid was $240 for my ZT0301 (I LOVE it) but my cut-off for production is $300 and for customs I'd say about $500
