this knife was a custom from 1981 & i lent it to my brother , he polished off all the great patina. got it back today & put a decent edge on it. maybe after deer season it wo'nt look chrome plated. [06 at 60 r.r.]

Used my UNK on three deer so far. It has a CPM S35VN blade and I'm really pleased this this steels performance.

Izula for gutting/skinning, and for the butchering I tend to trade off between my Breeden Pathfinder (preferred) and one of my ESEE-3s (they work surprisingly well). I tend to use the ESEE-3s a lot more for trimming meat for the grinder, they're extremely handy for that purpose.

On a side note, rifle deer season in Nebraska opens one week from today!

I'm trying out cutting tools I made this time out. Made the longer one as a companion to my 100 year old .38-40 that I decided to take out this trip. I'm spending 3-4 days backpacking to wherever I make camp, and thought it would be a great chance to give my knives (and hawk handle) a great real workout for hunting, camping and bushcraft. Both 3/32" cpm 154, necker (I wore at my wedding) with Ironwood and bushcrafter in Rosewood burl. I'm adding a slipjoint from this thread, but I still have a couple of days to figure it out.

So far this season I have field dressed and quartered up: one buck deer, one wild boar, and two wild turkeys with my Cutco fillet knife and a KOA Cub (for the turkeys).

Made it through 15 deer field dressing and skinning. It's one of mine, D-2 hollow ground 58-60 Rc. Black linen micarta handle.

This is my trusty Puma Skinner. There are many like it, but this one is mine... ( ok I found this pic on the interwebsBut I do have one just too lazy to go take a pic of it...:o)
440C and never let me down yet! although I prefer the drop point. Hunter's friend or even the hunters pal model, this was 200.00 less then those because they dont make them anymore! Next year I'll be sporting one that I made from forged W2 and stag slab handles...:D

I have been taking my esee izula but I think I may switch to my busse skeleton warden as soon as I get a sheath for it.
