What's your favorite and least favorite thing about being a knife "knut"?

I personally love the community and how cool it is when you meet another knife person, but I hate how whenever I talk about lives people look at me like I'm a murderer or something

Speaking as one of the relatively few female knife knuts, people are always surprised when I tell them about my knives. My favorite thing would have to be the cool community and some of the people I've met through this hobby!

I just LOL'd at work. That is an exact feeling that I have. I like you, love the community and how cool a lot of the makers are. I hate when people roll their eyes or their jaws drop when I say how much I spent on a knife. They are always like why??? I also relate it to their hobbies and that's usually the end of it.

People can justify spending big bucks for jewelry or a watch but can't seem to see knives the same way

My father in law was giving me a hard time last night. He is really in to high end speakers and audio equipment. As soon as I asked how much his Klipsch speakers were, that was the end of the conversation.

I love saving the day with a sharp knife in social situations. I hate how many excellent blades are out there and how few $100 bills magically appear in my wallet. :(

for me its all abought the "perfect knife"my pockets are limited and to earn a place in them well its gota be good. cut like a razor, light as a feather ,tough as a anvil, fit my hand like it grew there and as good looking as my wife so what iam looking for is a cross between a openel and a benchmade 940 and coldsteel lawman and a eka 88 and a shirogorov hope i never find it

I hate having to refuse letting someone use my knife.

My boss has asked me many times to use my knife, and I'm usually carrying a Rockstead Chi.

Boss: "Hey Tyler, you got that knife on you?"

Me: "Yeah, uhhh... What do you need cut?"

I find it awkward, since he's technically the one who bought me the knife, since he pays me:D I wanna bring up the details about my Chi to him, but the situation is never right for me to start bloviating for 10 minutes about 65 Rockwell hardness, fancy grinds, and mirror polishing:D

Forgot to add my favorite- that is using the knives, of course:)

Favorite: having owned many different models from fixed to folder.
Least favorite: it kills my wallet

Favorite: Having a nice assortment of knives that are nice to look and handle.

Least favorite: Having nearly no reason to use those knives since my usage is only the occasional package and envelope opening. Even when dayhiking the most-used knife is my 1" SAK for cutting moleskin to prevent blisters. But, if needed, I COULD fight off a bear attack! Really!

My favorite thing would be the fact that my collection ( I don't collect users ) is cheapo's with novelty factor, and they're always plentiful and affordable.
My least favorite is the fact that I tend to find what works and stick with it, so I'm always torn between mixing it up or staying with what works.

That great feeling I get knowing there is a bad ass blade in my pocket. Also, choosing which one to carry for the day. Lastly, watching my 3 sons get into the hobby with me.....but they will 'borrow' dad's rather than buy their own!! Smart little turds aren't they??

Least....knife companies with horrid customer service and wait times from makers & pimpers!

Like: always having a useful tool when I need one

Dislike: answering foolish "why do you carry a knife?" questions

I'm happy with the fact that you can enjoy this hobby, no matter what your budget is. The range and variety of good-to-great knives available at any price point makes it easy to build up a collection of quality knives with as little, or as much money as you want to spend.

It's not so great when it becomes an obsession and takes over your life in a way that displaces 'real' things, like family and friends. I've been there, and come back, but as with any hobby, it is a constant struggle to keep it all in perspective.

But, hey, at least it's more affordable than collecting cars.

Favorite: the large variety of knives to choose from and enjoy.

Least favorite: having a limited budget which limits my enjoyment of those aforementioned knives.
