What's your favorite and least favorite thing about being a knife "knut"?

Favorite: Having a collection where I can change the knife I carry based on my mood that day/ what I am doing. Not doing much or want something super light: Benahmade 940. Feeling like carrying something nice: Southard Tolk. Going to Wal-Mart: definately want to take the ZT 0452cf :)

Least Favorite: Having to explain why my knives cost so much, and why I justify spending that much on them. If it is a woman I will usually point out her jewlery. If it is a man I usually point out his watch, expensive jacket, or limited edition Nikes (in some of the circles I frequent).

Favorite: The amount of interesting designs and configurations
Least: The amount of interesting designs and configurations I want

Favorite: When you actually get a knife that is nearly perfect, or exactly what you what!!

Least favorite: When I have that knife in my pocket at work and I can't just take it out and open and close it non-stop without looking crazy. Another has to be the money I have put into knives, especially ones(expensive ones) I did not keep and sold for a loss.

Fave: Looking for the next coolest toy, then waiting for it and opening it for the first time

Least fave: My wife pestering me about it all the time

My father in law was giving me a hard time last night. He is really in to high end speakers and audio equipment. As soon as I asked how much his Klipsch speakers were, that was the end of the conversation.

Did you ask in front of your M-I-L? That tends to end up awkward.

Favorite: Discovering a new knife everyday to add to the collection..

I hate having to refuse letting someone use my knife.

My boss has asked me many times to use my knife, and I'm usually carrying a Rockstead Chi.

Boss: "Hey Tyler, you got that knife on you?"

Me: "Yeah, uhhh... What do you need cut?"

I find it awkward, since he's technically the one who bought me the knife, since he pays me:D I wanna bring up the details about my Chi to him, but the situation is never right for me to start bloviating for 10 minutes about 65 Rockwell hardness, fancy grinds, and mirror polishing:D

Which is why everyone who is known as the "knife guy" should carry another knife as a beater.
