What's your favorite fixed blade?

That picture is like pouring salt in a wound for someone like me. I would love to own both of those knives.

My apologies! Keep an eye on the exchange, because 4.7s pop up there every now and then.

Damn that's nice. Is that goat willow on the handle?

Appreciate that. It is willow, but I believe it is artic. That me be the same as goat as I've never heard of goat willow.

Goat willow or goat sallow (Salix caprea), a small tree native to northern Europe and northwest Asia.
Grey willow or grey sallow (Salix cinerea), a small tree native to northern Europe
American pussy willow (Salix discolor), native to northern North America.

I only use a fixed blade when hunting, hiking, or camping so it's all about utility. You can find a Bark River Bravo 1 with A2 steel for well under $200, it's tough to beat. I also found the traditional Ka-Bar USMC knife with 1095 a great field knife (maybe nostalgia plays a part in this, but it was a breeze to keep sharp and took a beating). For me, the expensive designer steels are great on pocket knives, but in the field I like really hard tool steel like A2, toss in a no nonsense micarta or G-10 handle, lanyard hole and I'm good to go.

You can get these for like $160 on the Internet:

How slick are the handles in use on that Bravo? Or I guess any of bark river's polished micarta. I've never used one of their knives.

Pretty slick in my experience. Slick enough that I bead-blasted my gunny hunter's scales, which did make a world of difference, although it's uglier than sin now.
