Whats your favorite handgun that you have own(ed)

Sig Sauer
P228
9 mm
4 in
As reliable as my Glocks but feels better in my hands and has nice single action trigger.

1911
Varies, though it has to be properly made -- handfit with quality parts. Colt if you want the original. I also like Les Baer, Springfield Custom, and Wilson Combat. Heirloom Precision and Pistol Dynamics if you want something special and you have the coin.
.45 ACP
Full-sized government model

I like the 1911 because I'm a gun owner, not a collector. I don't have a bunch of guns in the safe to choose from. My firearms have to perform a multitude of tasks. Not only does it have to perform in a self-defense role, it also has to be enjoyable to shoot because I like going to the range and making holes in paper. It's heavy, sure, but CCW in my county is a pipe dream so that is a non-issue. Newer designs offer more ammo, I won't deny that. My state has a 10-round magazine limit though. I'll take my chances with 8+1 of .45 in a design that is easier to shoot and get rounds on target than any other I've tried.

Wilson Combat CQB. A pleasure every time you work the slide or squeeze the trigger, the workmanship is just that good. And then there's the feeling you get when you manage to put 8 big rounds through one big hole in the paper- their guarantee of 1" groups at 25 yards is for real (not that I shoot that good- yet).

The lowly Ruger P95

The reliability, durability and quality are off the scale for the price paid.

Other guns come and go--the P95 always seems to stay.

I know it is not just one favorite but here goes
Rimfire = Browning Buckmark with Tactical Solutions 7.25 inch barrel, this pistol is reliable and amazingly accurate. From the first time I shot it with the stock 5.5 inch barrel it has been one of my favorites.

Revolver = Ruger Blackhawk 45LC/45 ACP convertable. There is nothing like large chunks of lead hitting things.

Auto = CZ 75B. I think these are one of the best 9's a guy can buy. The only reason I even bought a 9mm was cheaper (then 45ACP) ammo. And I don't always have time to reload anymore. But it turned out to be one of my favorite handguns. Accurate, reliable and it fits my hand well.

Colt Python, .357 Mag, 4 in barrel. It has an action job by someone who once worked in the Colt
Custom Shop, and is circa mid 60's.

Aesthetically and accuracy speaking, this STI Guardian in .45 Cal. The thing will drive nails and it's just a dang good looking gun

Because it just plain works, my glock 23. In fact if I only could have one gun, it would be the glock.

Its really cool to see all you guys commenting and it looks like I wouldn't have at all out of line buy saying my Springfield Operator .45 is easily my favorite semi-auto but I have always been more of a revolver guy myself so the stealth hunter gets my "#1" and also its a whole heck of alot more accurate than my .45:)

S&W
M&P Shield
9mm
3.1"
Despite being very compact and fairly light, the Shield is the softest shooting 9mm I own, and has an amazing trigger for practical accuracy. Also, it was very reasonably priced, new.

Ruger
Single Six convertible
.22lr/.22WMR
5.50"
I have found this to be an incredibly useful and versatile revolver. I can load birdshot for moles, 22lr for cheap target practice, or change out the (included) cylinder to 22WMR for small varmints. The .22lr is also great as a trapper's caliber. The adjustable sights are excellent as well.

As far as a pleasure to shoot day after day.......this guy.

Colt Diamondback
22 LR; 4" barrel
Blue Finish
It is the very first high quality 22 revolver I purchased and it balances nicely, easy to carry in a holster in the woods, accurate, and reliable. It fits me like a glove and looks great doing it.

I however don't shoot these much anymore as they have just gotten too valuable from my point of view. Have shifted to a S&W M17 or M18 as my primary DA shooters. That said, I'm having a lot of fun with the Ruger LCR in 22LR.

-Glock
-Model 19
-9mm
-4" barrel

I like the Glock because its really reliable, light weight and my particular pistol has night sights which really help if things go bump in the night.

Ruger
Red hawk
.44 mag
5 1/2 inch barrel

I traded a Glock for it in 1995. Great trade. It has traveled with me all over. When I went to OBC it was there, when I moved to CO it was there. When I deer hunted it went. It is a constant in my vault.

Glock
Model 29
10 mm
Got this one probably 10 years ago. Good gun for me to CC. Powerful. Just a good all around pistol. Glock hit a home run with this gun.

My favorite?

- Smith & Wesson
- 686 Classic
- .357 magnum
- 4 inch

I've got other guns I like for SD or for target practice but as an all around gun there's just something about a .357 revolver. :)

Wichita arms. 14 15/16" barrel. Full length .308. No longer have one, but a hoot to shoot. This was back in my silhouette shooting days. No problem taking down rams at 200 meter.

not pretty, but I won it as "high tactical" prize at a Ga State match before USPSA had Limited class.... frame, slide, and mag release are SA but most everything else is custom... my first complete pistol build that I did all the work, including fitting the barrel, and milling in the sights...earned my USPSA Limited Master classification with it

5", Springfield Armory, 1911, BoMar sights, Clark barrel, Ed Brown grip and thumb safeties, S&A mag will

I must admit my favorite is my Ruger super redhawk in 454 Casull. 71/2 inch barrel. I shoot it accurately out to 100 yards with open sights. A very close second is my colt King Cobra stainless 357 mag with a 6inch barrel. This is loaded with Federal 158 grain hydra shocks for home defense. I have a real love affair for Ruger SAA from 22lr through 44 magnum. I really love my revolvers even through 24 years in L.E. I carried semi autos.

For CCW I always carry a semi auto either one of my Glocks or my Springfield Armory 1911 operator in 45 acp.
