Since Tony did the favorite production knife thread, it got me thinking. What's everyones favorite non-knife piece of gear? For me, it's my Maxpedition Fatboy. I love that little bag. It's got plenty of room for my outings (which mostly just consist of day hikes and going fishing). So, how about you guys?

Canadian military parka. The thing splits into an inner and a shell, is good to -50, and has pockets large enough to fit kerosene cans. Detachable hood and draw strings at both waist and theighs allow you to bundle right up in the cold, or strip down a bit for a brisk fall day. Dirt crumbles right off of it, and the outer shell sheds water OK, and dries rapidly in the even it does get wet.

Oh yes, that would definitely be my gloves. It might sound weird, but because I have stupid small hands, I had to get them custom made to get a perfect fit. But that gave me very warm gloves that enabled me to work almost as well as without gloves. I had never had gloves like that before, so... :o

Besides My Colt Commander,

I would have to say my TAD shemagh, or my Maxpedition bottle holder.

Hm... Tie between my Benelli and my fishing rods/reels. My fishing stuff probably gets even more use than my knives, at least when there's not that hard junk on top of the lakes.

My JRE Leather.

I use a sheath for my SwissTool, Willett for my firesteel, and belt to hold all of my gear (and keep my pants up.)

That's every day and everywhere.

Plus I can wear them places I can't take my knives. :)

Probably my Wilson Outer shell, that and some good layering. Man nothin's getting in.

aside from my huge collection of cast iron cooking stuff, i'd have to say:

- my army leather mitts with wool liners
- my CDN army surplus wool mittins
- my CDN army combat boots and wool socks.
- my truck
- ALL of my Pelican cases, form the wee 1010 to the rifle case to the 350 Cube Case

My hunting, fishing, camping, and woodcraft book collection. From old to new, I`ve been collecting for around 30 years. Nothing better when it`s below zero outside than to sit by the fire and read about your favorite things.
