What's your favorite traditional fixed blade knife...

Did I miss it, or is the Schrade 165 nobody's favorite?

I love this design and old school steel. I just scored one just like yours. A couple of years ago a customer of mine gave me his 152OT Sharpfinger from 1984 when he got it as a young teen. He used it on one elk he took in Idaho that same year and I guess forgot about it. He found it buried in his garage and it is like brand new - no rust, leather sheath is like new! I kid you not it is the sharpest knife in my collection. Barely touching the blade will cut your skin. Love the delrin handles they used back then. Tough 1095 and 5160 are all you need in the mountains. The super duper steels are just selling gimmicks so companies can inflate their prices so high that us "poor" people can't afford them. Don't get me wrong, I dig the Chris Reeve Green Beret and Pacific but I don't have $400 to drop on them.

If the question was what's your favorite folder, I could answer easily. Favorite fixed blade would be difficult. My favorite utility knife would not be a good skinner. My favorite skinner would not be a good utility or food prep. My favorite slicer would not stand up well cutting dry dirty rope. Any how it's the excuse I use to own several fixed blades.
