  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

What's your favorite US-made Spyderco?

Original Paramilitary- sweet knife, still going strong after 6 years of daily carry in deserts, mountains and forests.

Manix 2 and PM2 are pretty equal to me, but I have to give the nod to the PM2 because it isn't as wide so it doesn't hog as much space in my pocket.

PM2 right now, but I'm waiting for my first military to be delivered, so I think that may change soon.

Only having handled and owned a military, para 1 & 2, and first gen UKPKs out of the Golden offerings my thumbs up are to those three. The G10 native is uber handsome IMO and clearly commands a respectable following.

I've had many PM2's...great folders; love the compression lock.
My favorite folder, however, is the SAGE 2. It's wonderful; feels great in the hand. All titanium with S30v three-inch blade.

I don't have one, really. I've sold off all of my Golden, CO models. I have a pile of the fantastic Taichung and Japan, knives, though.

This one made this thread a couple of times--did they make a version of this knife in the US? Mine says Taichung on it . . .

I like the PM2 ever so slightly more than I like the Manix2. That's my answer today, but tomorrow it could be the other way around. The difference? I like both locking mechanisms, but I like the PM2s just slightly better. While using the knives, I like the ergonomics of both equally. Carrying them both, I don't find a noticeable difference in the two.

Para 2, incessantly stated herein for very good reason. I have 3. To answer your question, this is my favourite US Spyderco, and my favourite Spyderco overall.
Although I would not argue too much against the Military, Manix 2 XL, standard Manix 2 FFG. In time, like me, you will have them all, you'll see :D

Be prepared to find that the Taichung Spydercos typically surpass Golden's in fit and finish quality. At least, that's my experience so far.

I'd have to say it's my Southard, though the Domino and the PM2 are close.

Ooops! I lost the plot!

I do that all the time. Right around 3AM usually.

Check the fine print on the Southard and Domino. US made they are not. ;)

I have noticed that a few retailers use "Country of Origin: USA" if the blade steel came from the USA. Many if not most of the Taichung models are mislabeled in this way on such web sites. This had me confused about some models for awhile...

I wonder how many returns they get from the die hard American made folks?
Before I became aware of the Taichung quality Spyderco's I most certainly would have been one of those folks.
