Not a huge necker fan - I've lashed my Becker Necker to my pack strap a few times, but it's getting less and less carry lately. A swamp warden wouldn't be bad to have, but I'd rather just carry a belt knife with a real handle.

Every necker I've owned I've gotten rid of. I just can't the hang of anything that heavy hanging around my neck. Really - I don't like anything hanging around my neck.

I've been trying to get used to the spyderco rescue with a kydex sheath around my neck with a chain from my dog tags. The weight just does me in. I'd rather carry it in my pocket.

I would have to say out of all the knives I've owned that are neckers I'd say i want to buy the Izula again.

I know this is for production neckers but I have never found one that I liked - all way too wide. No idea why every company seems to need to make a necker blade so tall....

michael morris nailed it with his little nekcer and the sheath is ingenious.

That is REALLY cool, klammer - I've never seen a snap built right into a handle like that. Very clever.

Interesting snap. What does the other side look like?

I like that Jimi Wade knife alot, is there somewhere I can get more info on his stuff? His website seems to be nonexistant.

info is pretty basic, I'm retired from knifemaking..I don't even have any NOS(new old stock) to sell...

glad your necker is working out for you Ken, nice to see it is being used.

Thanks! -I bought a set of small files from Lows, both regular and then diamond after the first set wore out. Been using them for little custom jimping/file work stuff and they seem to work OK. :)

So i assume a half round file? Awesome! Thanks...another reason to get a set of them :)

That would be my Bryan Breeden KAT knife (bottom one in picture)

and my Izula - a gift from an overly-generous forum member.

RescueRiley, is the Becker Necker a three finger handle? Also, do you know the edge angle? 40 - 45 degree?

Thanks.

I really like my old Camillus Becker Necker. It has been around the block a few times, and I keep thinking about stripping it down and giving it a nice set of lignum vitae handles, but never get around to it. It's tough as nails and it takes an awesome edge, particularly near the handle.

Seen here after some pre-Corona lime batoning.

All the best,

- Mike

does anyone know if Ka-Bar and RAT use different heat treats?

I'm wondering because my Izula holds an edge pretty well, but my BK-11 and USMC knife do not hold a razor edge well at all, even though they are all 1095 steel. In fact they (USMC and Izula) get considerably dulled just from taking them in and out of their sheaths a few times.

-can't tell if it's the heat treat, or if the Ka-bars just don't like their sheaths?

As much as I'm not a neck knife fan, that becker BRAT is growing on me. My biggest complaint about the becker necker is the poor handle ergos. If nothing else, the BRAT would be a cheap way to get a blade to add my own handle to.

heres a few of mine.

Jimmy Lile with ironwood scales, GL Drew $65 knife, Idaho Knife Works hunters companion with flame burnished scales, Benchmade/SNODY Instigator (currently set up for belt carry), a Micheal Morris SAR file necker

Nice knives guys....

Patriot Dan,
THe becker neck knife is mostly a 3 finger but I can get most of my finger around it.. WIth the after marlet scales it fills my mitts well ( a cord wrap works too)
I sharpen mine at 40 degrees on my sharp maker and it works dandy.

oh man, that's a huge disappointment! It'd be a perfect little boot backup for my nessie kit. if you ever know of one that comes up for sale or you start feeling constructive again, let me know.

I have an Izula and never really liked it. I have a Bravo Necker and it is very sharp but a tad small. The one I really like is the Swamp Rat Swamp Warden. It is a perfect size for me.

I'm a big necker fan :) thus far all of them have been custom though (Landi, JK, Gossman, Koster) but I do have a WM1 on the way that'll I post up when I get it in my grubby little hands :D
