Whats Your Go To War Knife ?

Served with the 39th Combat Engineer's, Vietnam, 1967-68. I carried the issued Camillus made MIL-K-818D. More widely known as the demo knife, an all stainless steel scout pattern pocket knife. It opened C-rations, cut open boxes of all kinds on construction sites, cut marline for survey lines, sharpened stake for survey markers, and other jobs. The basic scout knife did well.

These days I carry the Swiss made version of it, the SAK soldier or Wenger SI. If I was going to war again, my choice would be the same.

A Vic Soldier or Wenger SI is hard to beat for size, weight, and function. I just wish my nails would allow me to carry one more than I do.

I carried an AFO and the issue Gerber multitool

We were all issued a Gerber or original Leatherman. I also carried my own SAK Pioneer. The Gerber was perfect for breaking down m240's and 50 cals. I think I still have the pinch marks to prove it! :D
I was on a tank crew.

Carried a Swisstool on every deployment, would do so again without hesitation.
Of the knives I currently own and as there's no issue with an extra pound or so I'd take my Strider EBLT, DBL, SA as well as my Sebenza 25, my TSF Gorgon, Paramilitary 2, Alox Farmer and my Case Seahorse G10 Whittler.

I would get a Cold Steel Recon 1 it's tough and super light for the size and if it gets lost or stolen it's not to dissapointing and easy to replace. And as I said it's as tough as a folder can be. Great grip and plenty of traction. Honestly it's a perfect soldier knife in my opinion. Easy to hide also :) can clip it on your undies and not even notice it lol. I really wouldn't bother with a fixed blade unless your gonna be a combat diver. Or seal or in a elite team. Jmo

Hey guys, I was wondering what your go to war knife, maybe a fixed a folder combo.
I'm going to be joining the army, have been putting a lot of thought recently towards what my ideal combo might be.
Ahead of time Thanks to any prior or active duty military members.

There are hundreds of great knives that can be taken in to battle, and they would all do well, but the US Military decides what you can carry if anything at all.

Most are going to say to take a Leatherman. Others will say to take a KA-BAR. There is nothing wrong with these suggestions. They are proven.

If it's TEOTWAWKI, I'd take my Bark River Knives Moro Barong, Chris Reeves Green Beret 7 inch plain blade, and some of my Hinderer folders.

Multitool and one of those folding utility razors. You will probably use that more than anything else

Ahhh got hit by the devious necrothread

My son took a Boker Applegate-Fairbairn dagger and a Gerber demolition multitool to Iraq. He came home in a box but someone sent the tools a bit later.
