What's your grail?

My grail is anything in good condition from the J Russell Co of Greenfield Mass. The factory was powered with water from the Green River, my father and Grand Parents lived in Greenfield and worked along the Green River, my Grandfather retired from Greenfield Tap And Die which was on the site of the old Russell factory. Every summer we would go to Greenfield to visit Gram and Gramp, we would swim and fish in the Green River.
Russell pocket knives in good condition are hard to find, most were used up. I knew a late 1800's stag Navy Knife existed and looked for one for many years, I would come across them but they were either too beat up or not for sale, finally last year I managed to land one and it is everything I had hoped for, love that the tang is stamped Green River Works.

I don’t know if I have a grail knife per se but of all the knives I’ve lusted after over the years, all the ones I’ve drooled over on these forums, nothing has captured my attention as much as the GEC 25s.
So yeah, give me a 25 spear, clip or sheepsfoot in ebony, smooth bone or stag and I think I’d just have my grail knife.

This is just about the coolest knife I've ever seen, and would no doubt be beyond my financial means to acquire if in any kind of condition, hence a grail.

A Tony Bose stockman is the grail I will never acquire. I do however have Case Bose collaboration stockman and cattle knife and they are fantastic.

As to a grail I may someday be able to obtain it is this one.

I was able to find and acquire a grail a while back a GEC Abilene in ebony as seen in my avatar. I have numerous GEC's and the ebony Abilene is hands down the absolute best of the lot.

For almost ten years (on and off) I looked for a Queen Classic Mountain man knife in Redstag. Now that I finally got one, I am on to these. Wish me luck!

My current top 5 (all GEC):
Goldenrod Camel Pocket Carver
Orange Camel Beer Scout
Soup Bone TC Beerlow
Ebony Lambsfoot
Ebony Washington Jack

A good cattle knife.... spear main with a long nail nick, sheepsfoot, either a pen or spey, satin finished blades, carbon steel, Schrade style peachseed jigged bone 3-3/4 to 4 inches closed.

I checked the brass and rosewood 305 of the list, now I'm looking for a 1989 elk stag 305 and the grey laminate 305.

For me the grail knife is definitely Charlie's 93 lambsfoot knife. Never had a lambsfoot but the knife is just beautiful and sleek. Looks like the perfect carry knife. I tried picking up a few a while back on the secondary but was always out bid and now they are out listed for insane money. And even amongst the 93 lambsfoot knives the white smooth bone is by far the grail of grail for me as they are very rare.

I am beyond pleased with my collection. However, if there were a knife I’d want more than any I don’t have it would be a Northwoods Fremont with red micarta covers.
This thread popped up one the main page, and I am happy to say I have my “grail” knife. It is everything I thought it would be, and I will not have a “new grail” knife moving forward.

I got my grail.

When I was a kid, we would go to the local sporting goods store downtown and I would go straight for the knife counter. I'd drool over the Bucks, but on the wall was a display of the Western W-49 Bowie. Every time I stood there and stared at that plaque and wished I had a knife like that. I asked my dad if I could have it for Christmas and he told me, maybe when I was grown up. He gave me a Buck small stockman for Christmas instead. Flash forward 50 years and I was on eBay and saw a Western W-49 for sale. I figured I was grown up now, so I bought it. Couldn't be happier.

I am fortunate enough to have one of those . They are worthy enough to be a Grail . I was told that there were only 25 made , so they are rare . I wish you Luck to find one my friend .

Tony Bose Lanny’s clip in Stag. Even if it was available, I wouldn’t have the means to purchase it. Hence, ‘Grail.’ :)

Tony's and Case's version in stag. Hope you find one for sale someday at a price that fits. Own a few but current grail would be a T. Bose custom lockback whittler in bark goat horn.
