Not sure on the C. I looked at other ones with a C in the catalog and guessed. Several said "Steel Cap and Bolster" in the description. I could not find an SQ example, but the flat bolsters are cool on a single spring knife.

I think your numbers are right, Hal.

Flat surfaced bolsters were sometimes called square bolsters, back in earlier cutlery days. I wonder if SQ suggested that??

I've seen the C before. Does it mean a "cap" where there isn't usually one??

Just to add to the above, in the pic the upper most bolster was referred to as a Washington style, per the catalogue.

I have actually aquired these over the last month or two and just got around to trying to get some pics. Each one was purchased for $15 or less, with the 885 and the Greenwing being the exceptions. I got them for about $25 each. I was really hoping the 242 had bone scales, but alas I think they are delrin or some other plastic.

61OT, unfortunately there isn't much snap left in the clip, but lookout on the spey and sheepsfoot!

Nice ones Chuck. Nice color on that 885. The 242, I've got a few handled like that. It must be the same stuff they did on the 236 slick black, but jigged. If you look in the catalogs, I think they called it just "Stagged" instead of "Bone Stag".

Thanks for the compliments Hal. That 242 was an impulse buy. I saw it on the bay and threw $10 on it just to see what would happen. Who knew I'd actually get it! I'm not much on two blade knives, for some reason I prefer odd numbers, but that one just caught my eye.

Wow. Is that Copenhagen in brass or is it the light? The steel color is fantastic.

Nice 242's too guys.

aggie - Same here. And especially stock knives. Nice stuff. I really like the GreenWing!

It's brass. I really like the black and brass together.
I'm looking for one for the collection, but for $20 for a great looking user, who can gripe?!

I've been looking at the Frontier line. Nice...
Gotta get me one. Then another, and another.
A whole new addiction!

I found a few Frontiers awhile back.
I like what I see so far, they seem to be generally overlooked for now.

Keeping that trend, Schrade made some nice Shapleigh Diamond Edge. This was one of those very fortunate Ebay purchases.

It is a 4" stockman. Both blades stamped, punch unmarked. I'd date it around mid to late 40's.

Nice score, Hal!
