Got these in today. First is an SCM-5. Picture could be a little better, but I'm working on it. I built a light box, and even my first pics in it are light-years ahead of my previous pics.

Then here are some knives I bought from a guy who purchased a small display. All brand new, but no boxes. No flea market bargain prices, but definitely more than fair on all together. MA6, 197UH, 705UH, 706UH, and 123OT.

hey great find -- couple of those kinda hard to come by. esp. unused.
happy hunting,brady.

Since I got my light box done, I went picture crazy. Here is a better pic of the Canal Street Ebony Trapper, and also a pic of the same style knife with Caramel jigged bone handles. I actually sent the ebony one back to Canal Street today because the insides of the liners were severely scratched and never buffed out. Contacted them and they told me to send it back, no questions asked. A pleasure to deal with.

DaveT63,
So how about a pic of your light box? I need to build 1 so I can start to post more pics of my knives and not rely on the weather:mad:!!!

Thanks ,Shawn

Shawn, here is the thread I got it from. His pics are better than mine, plus, there is soem GREAT info on taking pics in this thread. The only thing he doesn't give details on are dimensions. He mentions in one post that his box is 32" long. I winged the rest. My crosspiece on the light bar is 36", all the other pieces are 12". The box is 32" long, 24" wide, and 24" high. I made the front and back horizontal pieces each 8" high. It really works great, but I gotta play more with more backgrounds and directing the lights or positioning the knives and such.

Dave

Dave, nice knives, and pics! those are half moonpie trappers (since there's only one blade). It's a great knife with great steel for the blades, 14-4CrMo. I have one myself in stag. I was going to make it a safe queen but I've been EDC'ing it an awful lot lately:D

BTW, Canal Street is made up of former Schrade employees. There are roughly fifteen cutlers working full time, with Wally Gardner, the former Pres. of Schrade, running the whole show. They've got an awesome operation going there, seems to expand every time I visit. They're actually working out of the old (pre-mega manufactory) Schrade plant on Canal Street in Ellenville.

My latest purchase was yesterday at an estate sale. It's a 108 OT. Nice little junior stockman. But I have to say this, there ara some of the cleanest and best looking knives shown on this thread! While I like my 108, it sure doesn't have the show quality these other knives have. Someday though, I hope to cross paths with a couple of knives as clean as those shown!:thumbup:Dale H.

Nice pictures Dave. I can see I am going to want to make one. Picture taking outdoors is tough in the winter.

You pics look great!!!
You should mess with some closeups/macro lens

I use about 4 fluorescent bulbs placed strategically around my patented green felt piece
I found this old photographers light at a thrift shop for a few bucks

Taking pictures outside on a slightly overcast day is the best
Maybe I'll build one of those boxes someday
I have to really adjust the lighting on my setup to minimize shadows and blade glare

They made a 123OT???
I guess I have to get one to match my 125OT right boys??!!!:grumpy:

I saw a 123UH at the Tulsa Wanenmacher show last weekend but:eek:The price? DaveT what are the deminsions on that 123OT if you don't mind?:D

The 123OT and 124UH are 4" and they look surprisingly bigger when you open the blade. As time goes on, those two knives will get increasingly harder to find and expensive already. They only were made them for 4 or 5 years, and most dealers did not stock them.

Hal's right, they do look a good bit bigger open, and they are expensive. I watched ebay for something like 6 months before I actually got a used 123OT for around $55. I was lucky enough to get this new one for $50. I also went back and got a new 124UH from the same guy for $60, and a new 127UH with it's sheath for the same price. But they are really nice knives.

My absolute favorite patern. Only thing I'd add is a liner lock. I have one that someone tried to modify and butchered which I carry often.

Concidering the recent elections these could be renamed. :p
In 86 the UH Maverick was re-named UH Tradesman.

Thats no camel :pit's a bronze ( Russel or Remington) not sure depicting "The Maverick".

No harm intended!:p
