I have a NIB 219. It came in a generic brown wood grain small box, to fit the knife. Box has no markings. AAPK reports it ended mfg in 1977. I have a white delrin Schrade Walden 218 which is nearly identical pattern but has a long pull on the clip, and no cut out for the pen blade. One guy sold about 6 or 8 of the 219 on Ebay last year, each a couple weeks apart.

Larry has them pictured side by side in the collectors site. Note his 219 has a long pull (likely a Walden):

Yeah, I have to get that thing updated this next year.
The earliest date I can find a 219 is in a 1953 catalog.

What I found so interesting was the color of the Delrin.
Is more like the color of the Camillus Gran'pa series, than the Old Timers.
I wonder if they were playing with the coloring of the Delrin, and that is one of the colors they came up with on the way to the Old Timer coloration?

Just a thought,
Dale

Here are a couple knives with their roots in Schrade history.

This first one is a New York Knife, 135R, with a Hammer Brand logo on the back of the tang. I found it today lying in repose on a table in a flea market. The way I was able to come up with the model number is that I have a copy of an old knife catalog circa 1918 that has this knife in it.

This next one is a nice Ulster SS94, fish knife. It has been lightly sharpened but seems to have a full blade. The blade is bright and shiny which is why it looks so dark in the scan. Found this one today at the same flea market.

I bought a bunch of other knives at the flea market also, but nothing related to Schrade, well except for 3 or 4 Camillus' and a couple imperials.

Nice one Brady!:thumbup: Better than mine.
I have one without the box another one with a broken blade. :grumpy:

If anyone had a good blade in a bad frame I would be interested in trading.

I have been carrying my Dad's old knife for a couple of weeks. Have not really used it. I normally have multiple knives on me and i use others. But I carry it because of the memories it has. The knicks. The burnt end of the blade. I am slowly cleaning it up. But not to much. My dad had this as long as I remember. And I remember him using it all the time. Fishing together. Working on cars. Whatever. I feel the need to aquire more of these old timers. Actually one is on its way. I am not sure if it is a newer one made in China or a USA one. But I got it so cheap even a good deal on a China. If it is I will give it to my son so he can have one like Grandpa use to use, and one day he will have it when I am gone.

Awesome knife Bill. :thumbup::thumbup:
The best knives, IMHO, are the ones with history and ties to the heart.

I have a 34OT that belonged to my Grandfather. He was a whittler & carver, so he modified the clip blade into a wharncliffe.
I can still see him; he had a little shed behind his mfg. home that was about 6' x 6'. In the shed was his little work shop, a work bench, chair and a light where he sat picking the bark out of maple burl. From the maple burl he made beautiful clocks. I have one of his clocks and a set of book ends he made for me from maple burl.

Keep your knife and treasure it and pass it on to our son when that time comes.
I think these little things help our children to be connected to their past and have a sense of history, which helps them to have a sense of purpose and belonging in their world.

Way to snag a good one Roland! Quite a find... beautiful stag and awesome filework. The poster and a new 4 pin LB7 is icing on the cake.

Herman, you rule like none other.

Damn, Roland, I was gonna post a few this evening, but after that, I don't feel worthy! BEAUTIFUL snag!

And Herman, yeah, what thawk said!

Good job Roland!
You got a nice one made by THE MAN himself!:thumbup:

Dale

depending on how "early" the LB7 is, the H. Williams fully customized LB7, might be "the icing on the cake".

Nice pair of knives Roland. Great historical points in the production of LB-7s!

Here are some beauties that just came from Severieville (sp?). I am posting them for a fellow collector! What a lucky guy!!
