just got this little pretty in. not so sure where it fits but will look at the "price lists". it is labeled on the tang a 206 and looks very much like a barlow. which will make it my 2nd the other being a scrimshaw one.
any history will be as always appreciated.

Sorry, no history, but I got one like that as well. Those were decently made Barlows. Nice catch

What does "where it fits" mean?

Good historical information for most Schrade USA knives. If you can click on the link get the page open, if you scroll down through the page you can match up the pattern number with corresponding information in the fields to the right of the pattern number. It works like a chart.

What does "where it fits" mean? was mainly taking bout date of manufacture. thank you for the help it was right there. 1976-1983 barlow with fancy bolsters.

like some of us on here i have favorite knives (LB 7 & and the honking 171 UH) and when a deal comes along, can't resist trying. just got this one in the mail today. took a chance on what i thought was a low bid of $25 and won it for $22.50. no sheath but the not told or shown serial number is 05221. which makes it my lowest serial number with the regular head. neat, took a chance and it paid off. now to find a sheath or get one made. wonder how one loses as sheath that big for a knife this big? it would not fit in ones pants pocket.

have just received a new addition to my little collection. two Schrade I XL Wostenholm knives. one is the size of a LB 3 and the other is the size of a LB 5. was the handle material Ivory or a really good fake? what was the designation of each knife? there is nothing on the tangs except the above title just arranged a bit different. did these come as a set since they both have the serial number of 1041? was there a LB 7 sized knife?

Plus, BladeForums does come equipped with a SEARCH FORUM function. To use it you press the link that says "SEARCH FORUM" and type in what you are looking for. In this case I pressed the link and typed in IXL Scrimshaw. VOILA, look what came up first.

Your fake ivory is bone Del... and it does not appear the set came with one in the same size as an LB7, so there will be no black basket weave sheath for it either. :D

ALSO...

Larry303 has provided some other information:

thank you for the information. just a small clarification: didn't call if fake ivory. i have never been any good figuring out what key words to use on the search function and i honestly didn't think of it.

Seems like you did.

The other day a guy brought by a Boker Auto for me to look at and fix if I could. I looked at it and fixed it. He gave me this just for the "looking" at it. It is as far as I can tell is a SP32X Ferguson Racing 43. The number on the upper right top is IFG4BCP. It was a good deal for me as the fix was taking it apart and cleaning out the grease that someone put in it. After cleaning I put some light oil around the pivot and release.

I landed one today that had me entranced for the past week. Falls into the extra-fancy catagory for sure. I've seen one or two others auctioned off but there were only 350 of these made so they are pretty scarce. Knife in question?

Schrade-I*XL Orgill Bros. Commemorative. Three-blade canoe with scrimshaw (by Feeney) on MOP, engraved bolsters and it's extra bling-o-licious complete with a bonus scrimshawed ivory(?) plaque for the display. Sweeeeeet! I will scan it and all it's bling in glorious hi-def when it arrives. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Schrade-I-XL-Genuine-Mother-of-Pearl-Gunboat-Canoe-Pocket-Knife-Orgill-Cutlery-/190841670162?ViewItem=&ssPageName=ADME%3AX%3AAAQ%3AUS%3A1123&item=190841670162&nma=true&si=Qo16dz7Bqoll0XHO16i8uErX9SI%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557

My latest knife to put here is a Imperial Frontier Georgia state 4" folding lock back knife. As far as I found out the knife was sold with a smaller 3" lock back. Each had the same serial number as a set.

Fancy for sure, Dave! Good show.

Thanks Calvin! I've scoured the internet for other examples and there are some minor mysteries involved due to some major variation in engraving on serialized examples but I will save the details for later.

Ed, your knives are called the "Old Faithful Companions II" gift-set from 1979. They came in many "Dixie" State flavours. I used to have a bunch of these sets but I have sold all but one fully complete "Florida" set. Sadly, delrin knives go first if I have to sell something. Lots of pics and info can be found here: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/683388-Questions-and-info-about-quot-Old-Faithful-Companions-II-quot-Gift-Set-for-1979

Nice one Stelth.
That Schrade RL2 Loveless, knife sold for $100 back in 1976.

The CH2 (Custom Hunter) Schrade Loveless, came soon after the RL2 and sold for $75.
