yeah, notice how they're all small? I don't baton my crack open like some.:D

Would love to see this thread get back on track again. I need to learn what I may need, or not need. My ALICE pack is on the heavy side, and I don't even consider it done yet. I remember moose saying one time there's a difference between survival items, as opposed to comfort items. I guess I have a little of both.

I think those maybe counting beads...to determine distance traveled? Or maybe just to go with the matching strands woven into his hair.

When I first started hiking hard-core this year my pack had about 10 pounds of gear I never used.

After I started covering more terrain I decided to only pack what I really would need and use, made things alot better......

sometimes I wish I had the cash to overprepare. But packing light is the only option. Most important to me is the tin in the sheath pouch. You can pack so much useful stuff in there and if you lose your pack, you still got your blade. Id like to add water treatment drops/ tablets, some of those straw fire sticks, and maybe the most useful thing, a $50 bill. Cuz nothing is worse than getting lost, finding civilization, and not having cash for a cab, phone call, and a hot meal.

Edit: not my idea, I read that somewhere on here at some point.

You would think its easier to lose your knife then your backpack.....:D

Actually thats why I don't keep a tin with my knives.

I got some extra water tablets if you want a set, I'm sure I wont ever use this many.....Clich PM me if you want them

That's why I got me a jump proof first gen esee 5 sheath. Leg strap, molle, that sucker takes me 10 minutes to take off, no way in hell im ever losing that thing :D. The retention strap in the tin pouch is strong too. Duno y esee stopped making those things
