102 is my favorite knife to use while grilling.
That small size also makes it perfect to pack for a picnic or take with for cheese and crackers away from home. The ffg would make it perfect for that.
Nice knife, I look forward to getting mine!

Nice knife! I haven't seen that circle next to the anvil on the tang stamp before...is it me just not being observant?
It's been there since I got it - not sure why you didn't notice it before....

On a more serious note, I'm not a good resource regarding the tang stamps. Anything beyond finding the symbol on the date chart is out of my league

Out running errands with the Mrs and poked my head into a pawn shop down the block from the farmers market. Picked up this well used 303 some idiot used a buffer on and tried to pass off as new. Broker said he gave 10 bucks for it and let me leave with it for 15. View attachment 1367154View attachment 1367155someone love it and used it a good deal but it’s tight with lots of years left in it. It shall become my go to 303.

Completely forgot about buying this old fella. Very early 71-72 307. Used up and put away wet. I bought it to give it a place to rest. I love these old beat up knives and enjoy imagining the work they have done and the stories of the men who used them. I don’t have any of my grandfathers knives so I buy the ones no one claims and toss them in a pile of other stories. View attachment 1367346View attachment 1367347

I really need to slow down. Ever since I decided to open my collection up to all 4 of the contract stockman I’ve been on a kinda wild ride. Just made a deal on this never carried or used Schrade made 4 inch stockman. This is the knife that became the 301. I own a “ place holder” been looking for a new in box for a year or two. Found this one today With maybe some handling wear and shot an offer. Probably paid more then I shoulda but less then I woulda. This one will put my place holder into the old stories pile and fill the spot on the shelf while I hunt for a new in box one. View attachment 1367894

Well it arrived today and what a beauty! Still not sure it will stick around but it is such a nice to knife to have at least owned once. View attachment 1368615Also pulled from the mail box today. I never knew just how tiny these 305 were! Another not sure if it will stick around knife. For years I’ve only collected stockman. I bought these to scratch an itch but I’m really not sure I’m ready to be an actual knife collector...View attachment 1368622
