Even if they do (I've never seen that happen), the edge of a knife is a consumable and may attest to, but does not define, the quality of the knife. You'll have to sharpen it eventually anyway unless you never use it, at which point it wouldn't have mattered if it were dull.
For a good all around survival knife I like the Jaktkit KNV2 very much it is a very high quality stainless steel blade with a unbeatable Swedish ergonomic design and the TPEE handle is the most wear resistant and stable at all temperature. it has a full hidden tang design with hammer on pommel. The sheath is made from precision molded kydex, support all kinds of carrying positions with military style retention and zero maintenance required, this would be my no 1 choice for a survival situation.
On the other hand my favorite knife to play outside is a Hunter's Companion II from CFK Cutlery, it's a nice 4.25 inch hollow grind drop point in D2 steel with a good 1/4 thick blade. That is a very good Bushcraft kind of blade and has proved to be extremely resistant to abuse since i got it. It cut aluminium pipes, carlon, nails, all sorts of plastics, loads of carboard for more than a year and used at wood processing and camp cores and I only stropped it. It has a super comfortable two tone linen micarta handle and for the price it was. I'm very impressed with the product, I pull out a Falkniven and nobody say nothing , then I pull out this baby and people goes Wow! And I get congrats for the beautiful knife .
What's your opinion on the best survival/outdoors knife for under 160 dollars?
Probably the Leatherman Wave or Leatherman Charge or maybe the Victorinox Swiss Tool.
Plus, what's your favorite knife and why?
Now that's a hard one.
I do love my custom shop Buck 110. It's beautiful and it's THE classic locking folder.
But the knives I use the most everyday are my fully serrated Spyderco Delica 4 and my Victorinox Fieldmaster.
