What's your REAL EDC?

Scared of the dark??:D

I imagine flashlights can become an addiction like any other! :p

H

Yes, flashlights and multi tools are my addiction. I work in IT and these items are a useful addition to my normal tool kit. If I am anticipating working late at night, I will usually pack a Surefire L4 and L1 also.

i also am on my bike all the time. mostly i ride to and from school, every day. it works out to be right about the mile mark each way. plus i ride my bike everywhere else i need to go within about a three mile radius, sometimes farther. when i am doing serious shopping or retrieving of heavy stuff (like lumber or metal) i use the automobile.

so, becuase most of my travel is between home and school, my bag commonly carries papers that i need overnight for homework, (to school) sandwhich and fruit, various small things like a chunky sharpie, sunglasses, a pair of socks and fresh running shorts for track practice after school, etc.

when i am going anywhere besides school, i skip the papers and fresh running shorts. i mostly keep my bag empty so that i can fill it up with whatever i buy or find or whatever.

normally i carry any of a number of shoulder bags, mostly no-name cheapies, or from various clothing stores. right now my favorite is from the gap. its actually like 6 years old. for heavier loads i carry a proper backpack, sometimes something with a little suspension/weight distribution.

Great layout koyote! I love the hat:thumbup:...I would much rather wear that than our beret:barf:

My work EDC is much more robust than off-duty carry...but I at least get to CCW off-duty:D

A couple of upgrades...I now EDC a Novatac 120 LED and my end-of-world watch, a Marathon GSAR:D

Maybe this weekend I'll inventory and take a few pictures of my work/RAID pack...that's my "fun" bag and anybody that needs something usually asks me first:rolleyes:

ROCK6

I have a crunch, it's an awesome tool.
I like how your stuff looks used, as it should be.

For everyday, I usually go on the cheap...Gerber EZ Out Lockback, and a Swisskey and Photon Freedom on my keychain. On the weekends when I am around the house, I usually add a Gerber Legend 800 multitool.

You guys seem a little more serious about what you carry...and people give me grief for carring a knife and a multitool!

Rock, love that PATAK. Someday I'd like to find one of those. Great gear.

My EDC - I like to keep my pockets pretty light, so it's usually just my (very) old beat-up wallet and my best folder (Benchmade 710-D2):

However, I have a survival box very similar to koyote's that occasionally get's to tag along to my various destinations:

Except what I keep inside of it is significantly different!!!

Looks like the blade is hollow ground, so I also guess it's a Chinook 2. Got one, too, and I love it :)

What's #4 on the same picture (also from left to right)?

I just started carrying a rehandled Camillus marlin spike also. I figure the spike is super useful for a variety of situations. Besides prying open stubborn knots I figure it could work well as a glass breaker.

I just have a loop of paracord with a split ring on mine. The split ring is slipped under the tip of the spike. The spring on this thing is so strong it helps to have a little leverage getting it open.

well, it's a rigging knife... and I've cruised on sailboats.... and I'm a Navy vet (brown shoe, but still) so I just HAVE to have some decent knotwork on it.

Hmmmm.... very few sharpening tools methinks...

there is a diamond stick in the nite-ize pouch, but this is my day to day stuff, not a ditch bag or hiking setup.

I bike 7 to 30 miles a day, take odd work in construction and landscaping when I'm not making knives and/or raising the kiddos. I also volunteer for ARES, the local bike co op, and an annual music festival- so I just have to carry stuff. This is sorta like my living room.

the diamon hone Rock6 has looks like it wouldn't add anything much to my carry, though.... and I could use it on some tools.

Here is mine - to and from work and for day hikes. Contains my camera, PSK and other gear. Also carries lunch and my laptop when commuting.

Wow, I used to think I carried a lot of stuff.

Here is what I usually have on me.
DSC02733.JPG

Wallet, knife, phone, keys, pen, bandanna, koozie and on weekdays my backpack.

DSC02735.JPG

Close up uf my wallet with a Ti-Card, griptilian, titanium Bic and part of my new nifty phone.

DSC02734.JPG

Stuff on me keys that are not keys: utili-key, homemade Ti BottleBar(little prybar with bottle opener), little pick(old folding knife spring), fob(monkey fist with 1" steel ball bearing).

And on class days my usual school stuff plus an Altoid gum PSK.

I usually have another knife or two in a pocket or boot but I rotate throught them often.

grimspoon where did you get the case you have your psp in?

It's an otterbox wqith foam cutouts for the psp.

I bought our first two to hold jornada 720 handhelds, I also have a few other different size ones (one fits my nokia n800, one an old and EXPENSIVE hp calculator, etc)

the clasps DO eventually - after several years- wear down a bit and need sme help like rubber bands to make sure they don't pop open on a rough ride. otherwise, they are seriously tight- I got some of mine from a shop in CO and when they arrived here in 26 feet above sea level CA I had to sit them in the sun for a couple hours to heat the air inside enough that I could open them!

Is this EDC as in EVERYDAY carry or EVERYDAY I"M IN THE WOODS carry? You carry rucksacks everywhere? To the doctor's office, work, Walmart, everywhere with a rucksack? I didn't even carry a rucksack everywhere in the military.

My everday everyday carry is a P2000 .40, spare mag, key chain with a small gerber, a photon light, a firestarter (AF kind), button compass, and a 3mm cord lanyard. All my vehicles have small kits in them, but I don't wear a rucksack or murse everywhere.

EDIT (Forgot about my Leatherman. Surge at work and Blast the other times.)

I definitely started this thread with the "what do you carry with you ever day? not hiking, nothing special, just your around town stuff" idea.

That bag, or the same stuff in a backpack if I have to carry stone working tools or some oddity, is my regular all the time stuff.

FWIW, it's only about 9 pounds.
