Right, a business decision. Increase profits! It's the American Way!

Increased profits, perhaps.
Maintaining a range of product lines, including some pocketknives that are affordable to average shoppers and less-affluent collectors, absolutely.
Finding a manufacturer willing and capable of making custom designs with high consistency and quick turnaround, apparently.

Not to detract from or minimize the OP's experience with a different knife, but the build quality of this import is outstanding and I'm thrilled with the purchase.

Compare this to a Case or other brand in the same price range:

Perhaps you would like to educate us all on which surviving American Cutlery factory is willing and able to produce A.G.'s current traditional knife designs?

A.G. currently has his knives made in the USA, China, Taiwan, Japan & Italy.
Are you just offended by the Chinese ones??

To accuse A.G. Russell of not being a supporter and defender of the American Cutlery Industry quite frankly illustrates significant ignorance on your part.

Way to take it personal. I am insulted that you call me ignorant but it's exacerbated by the fact that implying the American Cutlery Industry is not effected by sending the work offshore is quite a display of ignorance on your part.

FWIW my personal standard is to buy American made knives while I still can, especially American made traditionals from Case, GEC, CS and Queen.

How many companies are left that make traditional knives in the U.S.A.? Case, GEC, Queen, and Baer. Others? (Not CS).

This thread turned into an elbow to the nose. As the old saying goes (paraphrasing) "There is no further education to be gained from the second kick of a mule".
Say good night Gracie.
