Wheeler Fighting Bowie Project :) ( UPDATED CUTTING & FORGING VIDEOS)

Perfect replies.... Oh, you guys know how to talk to me!!! :D :D :D LOL

I had the blade at a "dirty" 320X finish yesterday, sharpened it up, and started whacking stuff with it. Then made a conference call with Mr. Paranee to double check some things.

This thing is pretty scary. I had it clamped to one of my sanding fixtures, sitting on the bench. I reached for something above the bench and the tip poked right through my carpenter jeans (including the lined pocket) and put a nice clean, little hole in my upper thigh. Oops! :foot: :o Glad it was only sticking out past the end of the fixture about 3/8".... much further and I would have been forced to leave the super-glue on the shelf and make a drive to the hospital for some stitches instead. :o

This blade should be a case study of what a high performance Bowie knife Blade should be

The shape ,geometry, and heat treat will make this Bowie perform at a level that will make other knives seem anemic :)

From conception

To mastery of fire and hammer

To final grinding and battle polish :)

Now add a svelte guard and a contoured handle that makes for indexing and control and you can only imagine what a blade like this is capable of :)

That thing has Joe Paranee written all over it...and the handwriting is all Nick Wheeler's. :)

Nice work, fellas.

Oh that is really looking sweet. Had to pull out a couple of my Wheelers to satisfy the craving.

That ugly scrap of hide is actually about 13 oz. on one end, and I didn't have a solid enough grip on it the first time I went to cut that end.

It's 7:30, that means it's time to have a cup of coffee and some protein... to power up the second wind. ;) :D

Wow... Cutting that leather was something else. It's going to look really cool finished out.
