When Emerson Says Hard Use, He Means Hard Use...Many Other Brands Don't Survive

I've seen the video and I think the only reason the lock failed was because it was a brand new knife and had extremely early lockup. I've done spinewhacks, over strikes and batoned with an Emerson just to see what it could take, and it failed none of those tests. Dumb I know, but it didn't hurt the knife at all so it's not a big deal.

I agree! A new knife needs some play time to get optimal lockup..

This is the thread I would like to credit for me REALLY wanting, and finally getting a CQC7bw; and for that matter finally loving an emerson.

Thank you BF and the emerson subforum

This wild man from Russia must be former KGB, with a fat Swiss bank account, 'cause he puts many pricey folders through his version of "enhanced interrogation"....

MAKE SURE YOU OPEN SUBTITLES ON FIRST & SECOND VIDEO..
it contradicts the post headline, there are more youtube videos about that subject.

here is a continue video from same user
about an issue with lock fail on that same knife.

wow thanks for the second video, hey alnamvet watch the second video its the same guy who did the first video... great job starting this thread with a video that shows an emerson failing, does that mean all cqc7's will fail in the same manner? what if people judged emerson knives off that video and wrote them off just like you did with elmax? hmm

^exactly. No surprise, he wacked it with a hammer.....repeatedly. I just "squeezed" the handles like he did and had no such extra feature.

That's a really good point you make!

although its not the only case of
lock fail with an un-abused knife.

ps
regardless of this, the Emerson i would love to buy
and im actually considering it right now, is the ZT Emerson 0620
for the reason i already got a ZT, and im getting exactly what i want with them.

but i wish it came with the polished finish on the 0620cf,
because the CF version may be to slippery for emergency use.

Given the chronic and insidious issue of counterfeit and fake knives, many produced in China and Russia, I cannot help but wonder if all these knife torture tests on expensive knives by these Russians aren't really tests on counterfeit knives. I can see a company with its vast resources conducting such tests, but unless these guys are very wealthy and just don't know what else to do with all their Rubles, I'm thinking that maybe these knives aren't the real deal.

Get the cf model, I was surprised at how grippy the cf is when wet. Excellent knife Mr. Emerson did good designing this knife. Another plus to the cf model is m390 which flat out rocks IMO, I opened several cans and tested the tip with zero damage..still shaves.

The Adamas failed to the point where he couldn't reasonably fix it to correct the point of failure. The ZT550 however... it seems like he gave up trying to make it fail.

the guy in first video is a member here
and i have 0 doubt of it being authentic.

his name is vininull.

haha, sun of gun :p

so what's your impressions of it
any slippery issue drawing it out of pocket?
can it be flicked open from disc with no wrist flick?
how is it in general to play with it in hand opening & closing?

at the same price i was actually considered the Spyderco K2 for the exotic steel before the i got interested with the 0620,
but got turned off due to stikey to hard to open lock issues.
plus ZT stainless insert is big plus.

(ps the k2 is way more to my style & taste as of looks & design)

got the Adamas, Absolutely love it!
i did not go easy on it testing it, it held perfectly with no damage what so ever.

the omega springs did brake twice, BUT..

i think i opened & closed it well over 4k times..
and it slipped my hand fell on hard marble floor while playing in house with it almost half a dozen times, the last one he fall blade semi open, so then it broker the omega spring the second time.
but i have NO complaints about that...
thats nothing if you consider it's service!

only now after so many thousands of times opening & closing it
it started developing minute up & down play, but not from hard work!
just from the sheer times of opening & closing it.

which im sure BM will fix it if i sent it to them, but i like it to much to
be without it for long time it would take ship it overseas. :D

The cf grips my finger quite well even while wet, I absolutely love this knife. It flicks open beyond easily without wrist flicking, its very smooth and the ergonomics is very comfortable in any way you hold it. I've opened cans of fruit and soup with it, used it to open the belly of a rabbit, shaved wood, tested the tip strength and it still shaves hair.

It waves open like a monster and you get a nice firm grip on the knife while removing the knife from the pocket. I've opened and closed this knife hundreds of times and waved it more times than I can count and the lock bar has not moved what so ever, still rock solid lock up zero play in any direction. My zt0620cf came absolutely perfect in every way fit and finish was right on. I was really blown away. I'll be buying a back up for sure.

Edit to add: I also had the adamas and used it well, very good knife but I'm not a fan of omega springs.

wow what your saying sounds amazing :)
i want to hear it from more sources before i get it.

so sad YouTube "reviews" are mostly third party advertising,
not real people like me, actual end users, customers.
but thank you very much for your replays, its helpful & appreciated!

about the Adamas
in terms of being a knife which is fun to play with,
it proven itself above & beyond anything in my humble collection.

ESPECIALLY now after one of the Omega springs broken
and it's even easier & nicer play with.
didn't bother replacing the broken spring.
