Bear attacks, cougar attacks, feral dog attacks, rabid raccoon attacks, wild hog attacks, deranged crazy human attack, etc., none are likely at all.
But, if you want to carry a firearm in case you might need it to defend your life you will be glad to have it if something does happen. (And maybe helpless without it) It's like why you buy insurance on your home. You don't expect to have something happen, but if it does at least you're covered.

One option is to do what I did: move from CA to OR.

Many people often say, certain laws only protect criminals. And criminals enjoy that, i remember reading a gun magazine that interviewed felons who commit crimes armed, they said in response to gun laws: 'They laughed at any gun laws city, state, or federal that restricted them from carrying, none of them hindered their willingness to carry.' If only the politicians could read that, and see that interview.

Me too. I went from carrying illegally to having the right to carry legally.

Sadly, I don't think that article would influence most anti-gun politicians. They want to take the easy-to-get guns from folks who will simply turn them in. I believe they realize they won't get the criminal's guns. Look how well the war on illegal drugs has worked.
