As someone who is anal about blade centering to a fault I thought I’d share my experiences with both of my Cheburkovs.

The Russian arrived, and truthfully for 99.99% of people they would have never touched it. Action was perfect, guillotine drop shut, but the blade was proud of the clip side by a minuscule amount.

One note about the Cheburkovs is the fact that the Torx screws are DEEP, ensuring you are very unlikely to strip them.

Back to the Russian…I summoned a T8 and proceeded to loosen it up ever so slightly. I opened and closed the knife several time and could tell that it was almost there. One more tiny adjustment, opening and closing regimen and it was absolutely perfect….and still is.

When the Killer Whale arrived much the same as above presented itself. Nobody in their right mind would have touched it. The pivot screw on the Killer Whale is a T9. I summoned a T9 and went through the same process as on the Russian, loosen ever so slightly, flip & close several times, check, then make a final adjustment if necessary. It fires like a cannon and drop falls shut.

Clip side = loosen
Show side = tighten

……but in extremely small increments.

The blade being slightly closer to the lock when new is intentional, OO. Since Cheburkovs have no steel washers the philosophy is that the blade centers itself when the bearings break in (create tracks in the Ti). Same with Triway Hinderers, BTW.

I’ll have to readjust then maybe, but the Russian is still spot on.

Anyone know how to get parts, though? I got a russian and I love it, but it shore the detent ball in half and is now sitting in storage useless. I need I guess a new lockbar steel insert, but no idea how to go about this. Sorry for the revival, but they are gorgeous knives and wish they had more love

Try cheburkov.com and they seem to have customer support. Use a browser that can automatically translate Russian to english like chrome.
