Where Did You Get Your User-Name/Handle?

As I sit and read through everyone's posts, I often wonder how that person got their name. Some are pretty self explanatory (Ethan Becker) and some arent so much (Guyon). So please tell us how you got your user name--and while your at it--if you have a nickname that everyone calls you, how did you get that (Tim, Todd, Tito, Terry, Tad). Just thought this would be fun and informative. My name would probably fall under the self explanatory, I am a man who loves the outdoors, but not quite as much as I love my family--and 4 is my wife's favorite number--

As some of you might know, I'm into collecting fossil shark teeth.
The teeth that I've always liked a lot were those of the genus Galeocerdo (the Tigersharks).
Hence, Galeocerdo-shark.

nope, not tellin'.
You may guess, but I will neither confirm nor deny the accuracy of your hypotheses.

Back in High school people told me that I looked a bit like Hugh Jackman as "Wolverine" in the Xmen movies. I took that as a compliment, and since sometimes people at school called me "wolverine", I decided that online I would use Wolverines real name instead of his "nickname" as a username. His name is Logan.

The first forum that I joined was one called "OverClock.Net" (computer hardware site). I spent quite a bit of time on there, and became fairly well known, and was asked to write some of their FAQ and guide type things, and was later offered a moderator position (school got in the way :(). I still hang out there quite a bit :).

Now that I have that online identity kind of established, I thought it would be much simpler to use the same name everywhere I went online. Sadly, most places "logan" is taken as a username, so I added the prefix OCN (OverClock.Net) to logan, and there you have it, ocnLogan.

So when you read my username, read it as three separate letters rather than trying to sound out what the heck "ocn" would sound like if pronounced like a word.

There you have it :).

Mine is pretty simple. Mr Nate (though some call it marinate). Either works. My first name is Nate, one of my other hobbies is cooking, so go with whatever you want to.

Some other places you'll see me as Badger45.

My first name is Jake and my middle name is Ulysses. jkulysses is something i've used since I started my first email account and aol instant messenger days. I used to do JkUlysses but all lower case is easier so I've been doing that for a few years now.

Better Mr. Nate and Marinate than urinate....

But that's somewhat less badass

I love firearms, hence the .357 I also listen to metal music. Started using the username back in 2009 on a few different sites. Also can be meatalhead44mag, or metalhead666, and sometimes metalhead'96.

Chances are, if you see someone with the user name metalhead followed by numbers, it's me.

I use tman because Tit-man seems a little vulgar for some..

jk...

my last name is Tarantino and a good friend of mine gave me the nickname of tman back in the day. She is the only one who calls me it but i decided to use it on here, ebay etc.

Hey outdoors......

I am really glad you started this one.........I thought for some reason that it might seem as if I was prying...... Lovin' this....

Ethan

Oh come on man, you won't be the only one of us to have spent some of the time in their youth lost in a daze :)

I acknowledge the existence of the various offered hypotheses, but not their accuracy. :D

Although I have spent a great deal of time in NYC, I do not resemble the kind gentleman in the Yankees hat. This does not necessarily mean we are not related. (I'm more likely to wear a Beckerhead or Sig Sauer hat)

And that is a very nice flower, GS. I also do not resemble the flower, and can safely say, without giving up any secrets, that the flower and I are definitely not genetically related.

No idea where mine came from. I was up late one night and decided I liked this place enough to create a membership and this is what I came up with. Alcohol may have been involved...

I was surprised after being here and learning more about knives that a 'Rogue Bowie' is actually a specific type of Bowie knife. Now I want one, but it's at the bottom of the want list for right now.
