Where Did You Get Your User-Name/Handle?

A few years ago, my GF at the time showed me a website that contained a lot of common names translated to Sindarin (the elvish language in the Lord of the Rings universe). My IRL name is Martin, which is a reference to the Roman war god Mars. It translated to Maethor (mae meaning war, and thor is just a suffix meaning man).

A common nickname here is "meat" - when I chopped my leg open with an axe, I took a pic when I took the bandage off for the first time. Someone said my leg looked like a dried ham, and it kinda went downhill from there :D

Is that the bass ackwards thought process?:D

That works, basically I make my living solving problems for people, usually their problems aren't readily solved by straight forward thinking, if they were they wouldn't pay people like me... sometimes the answers come from bottom up / inside out / outside in or swarm approaches. I seriously doubt I'd ever have gotten through University physics without applying bass ackwords reasoning.

The name I always wanted, my mother called me Geraldine because she wanted me to be a girl and she used to dress me up in girls clothing.

(kidding, Luke Kelly is my name ;) )

When I was in high school, I never fit into one clique so I was nicknamed the Chameleon.

Then when I was 3 my granddad always called me Jarebear. So, I put the two together.

I have used this one for every forum I ever joined.

I was Marine Corps Infantry. The MOS (Military Occupational Specialty) is 0311. In boot camp we were trained the fundamentals of marksmanship with the acronym BRASF (Breath, Relax, Aim, Squeeze, and Follow through). Since I still hunt and shoot Alot, and once a Marine always a Marine, it all still applies.

When I was a kid I was always somewhat preoccupied often resulting in a reprimand from my old man who figured I was ignoring him. My dad had albums like Janis Joplin and Tommy the rock opera by the Who. when the old man would have to yell at me for not listening my brothers would go into a rendition of that Who song...... "Tommy can you hear me ??????? Tommy , Tommy

TMHunt.....huh nothing sneaky there. Names Todd, middle name starts with a M, last name Hunt. Some poeple take a quick glance at it and think it says Tim Hunt. The first time I attended one of Ethans Gatherings, no one knew me and some poeple thought my name was Tim. When I politely corrected them, it got to be a joke. Now everybody intentionally calls me any name starting with a T that is not Todd. It was a little annoying at first, but now I get a pretty good kick out of it. Its funny to hear all of the different names that you all come up with. Tiberious Maybelle Hunt is my personal favorite so far.

Mine is from the initials from my first and middle name, followed by the first four of my last name. Just seemed kind of easy.

I got mine from the post apocalyptic Rowdy Roddy Piper movie (Hell comes to Frogtown)..his name was Sam Hell.
And my Beckerhead number meaning is easy to guess.

And Moose was a nickname I've had for a long time. Some folks I've known for years don't know my name is Jason.

Cool thread! I've always wondered about some of these usernames.

Close friends and family call me Jonny. It was obviously already spoken for on the forums.
The 1280 is easy for me to remember because whenever I ask my Dad how much he paid for something, he'll usually reply, "About a buck two-eighty". Kind of wierd, but it's one of those things that's always stuck with me. So if I need to add numbers to a username I'll usually just add the 1280.
Not so close friends, family, and colleagues call me Jon. I introduce myself as Jon.
Jonny's cool though. I've just always thought it sounds kind of juvinille.

I didn't want to look back at my name and think "Wow, that was some stupid shit...What the hell was I smoking?!" so I just chose to use my name (Cameron) and the initial of my last name. The "16" part came from the excitement around the BK-16 when I first joined up and also since I thought I'd be around 16 years old when I finally got my BH #...I actually got my number about a month or so after joining so I was still 15 which I found slightly funny at the time.

I was once playing a video game and one of the computer assigned characters was named Tripwire. I thought it was somewhat catchy (I'm sorry, the pun wasn't intended) so I used it too. Tripwire+8 (tends to be my lucky number)+birth year. So there you go, Tripwire895.
