I thought I should let everyone who might be interested know what is going on. My not doing so earlier represents a 'epic fail' as they say, and I am deeply sorry.

My father was attacked awhile back, and suffered a severe blow to the back of the head. This caused a traumatic brain injury, which led to two stays in ICU, fluid pressure build up on his brain, surgery to relieve that pressure on his brain, Sundowner's demensia and now, due to atrophy of his brain, the need for 24 hour care. To top it all off, during this time, my parents received notice that the bank was seeking foreclosure on their home.

I should have notified folks that I was dealing with this stuff, and that it would effect my delivery times and availability for communication. At first, I thought that I would just be able to work through it. But, I was effected by this chaos and stress much more than I thought I would be. Between my own fears, and helping manage the details and situations that my family needed support with, I was essentially struck dumb. I cannot tell you what I have been doing since it happened, approximately 10 weeks ago, it is all a blur.

None of this is to say that I am without responsibility. Had I been more disciplined this would not have become the mess it has. But, unfortunately, here we are.

Going forward, I will be completing the orders I have on the books. And working to resolve the threads and discussions that my actions have spawned.

Then, I will be taking a break from making kydex, as I will be building my house.

That is terrible news MDP. Hope things get back on track for you soon. Best wishes for the family, hang in there.
 
Sorry to hear about this Marion. Family is always more important than work so I hope you can find the best balance of both. Best wishes in caring for your father and mother also. Life is full of valleys and peaks, I hope this valley helps you appreciate the peaks.

Wow. Now that`s what I call bad.

First off, my absolute sympathies to you and your family and my most sincere wishes of quick recovery to your dad. I totally feel your pain: my dad was also attacked about 15 years ago by two goons and I got called when he was admitted to the hospital. So I can definitely relate to what`s happening to you and your family. These are definitely difficult times to experience and I can now better appreciate why you were not responding to eMails - itself a departure from the good service I had been used to receive from you. Me being one of the ''customers-in-waiting'', I am no longer anxious now that I understand what`s been happening. You did the right thing in placing your energy and time towards your family and I`m sure all the others that have been waiting will join me in doing what we can to support a brother in need, which in this case is to give you the space you needed during these unexpected and extremely hard times. This will not prevent me from buying from you again in the future.

Marion had already done a sheath for me, inspired on the Junglas, and all I`m gonna say from my experience is that it is well worth the wait. Excellent craftmanship indeed. Do let us know when you will eventually resume your sheathmaking.

After several emails to and from, Marion agreed to make a sheath for me and we had great communication until he received my knife and the money for the sheath. Then all communication from him stopped.
He cashed the USPS money order as soon as he got it and I did not hear another thing from him.

After almost 100 emails to him with no response and a certified letter that he picked up I finally got my knife back with a letter telling of his dad.
There was no Kydex sheath for my knife and he kept the money I sent him for the sheath.

IMO the guy is a thief. Do not do business with him.

I am still waiting on my sheath. Emailed him and got a canned response that he would contact me soon.... still no response. Not a good way to conduct business in my opinion.
 
Here is yet another guy who time after time fails to communicate, excuse after excuse and has a history. Is the "new" story true?.........it's sad that everyone has to wonder......but, that is his fault. Hopefully, the members who are hanging will let us all know if it works out. I for one, never plan to do business with him after reading all this.
 
I think it would be quite hard to be upset with you. You're dealing with far too many things.

I'm sorry to hear this. I wish I had known this as I would not have sent that email asking about my order. Take all the time you need. Family always comes first.
 
Marion Poff = liar, thief, fraud. Spare your sympathies- he has an excuse for everything.

This goes back years, is habitual and what do expect with a proven history like his.
 
Marion has taken money from me and that is water under the bridge. What I do want from him is my personal knives and scrollsaw returned. That's all. He can keep the money off an knife sale and the cash I gave him for his rent payment. All I want is my personal property returned.

So if you happen to be reading this please just let me know how in the devil I can get my property back to me. Ill even pay the freight. Good grief just send me my property.

I've looked into local media and police reports in the Salem, Oregon area where his family is from. So far I can find nothing about an Mr. Poff being attacked or assaulted or being admitted to an hospital. Can't find any weblinks concerning this claim Marion makes. Although this could occured outside of Salem. Possible?

Whoa you're the guy who helped him and got screwed- I remember your posts.

What you did was admirable, a class act.

It's really sad- you can't even get your stuff back after letting him keep your money.

Horrible that your Father was severely injured, I hope for his speedy recovery. It's extremely hard taking care of a parent, your life turns on end. Had to endure that one myself.

As a small business owner, you should know by now that customer service is paramount...If you do it right, your business takes off and you make a lot of money...If you do it wrong, people get pissed off
and spread the word that your business or more importantly "you", are not a person to deal with...And all you have to do is communicate and be honest with your customers...That's extremely simple to do now. If I'd known about your poor business ethics, back in April...I wouldn't have placed 2 orders with you. And yes, I'm still waiting on those two sheaths.

It's most important to continue to aid in your Father's recovery...And it's also important to consider, that it's time to pull your head out of your a$$, and get us our orders.

WOW, thats BS. I wish nothing bad on the guy or his family, the opposite actually, but still, FULFILL your obligations! ITS CALLED LIFE!!!!!! MANY people deal with tradegy yet they still have enough honor to do what is right, not hose good people like the guy above, complete effin BS!!!!!

This is my second issue, I beleive that the manufacturer should provide replacement as soon as possible, meaning halting current production.

Now, I will not say who is who, because this is on-going.

What I am hoping is that there is some overwhelming logic that you can impart to me that will help me understand how my expectations are totally out of the question.

Because, as it stands, with the way this has gone, I feel that to continue to do business with either party is absolutely out of the question. Further, I am feeling that I would have to advocate that others not do business with these parties. And that conviction opens a whole can of worms.

Any ideas?
