I took some classes at CG base Yorktown, Va. for about 3 mo. cain't get more military historical than my drive in every mornin' right past the earthworks. especially on a nice foggy one, you could hear the fife & drums callin'

I go by that area once in a while. I am actually north of there, outside Fredericksburg. I live about a mile from Washington's boyhood home, Ferry Farm, scene of the Cherry Tree Crime (alleged).

Hey all:

I've heard all kinds of excuses but no real explaination why most people don't use their real names. I've got three thoughts on this:
1. You all owned CB radios years ago and still must have a handle
2. It is some kind of fad I don't understand
3. You are all registered sex offenders

I'm beginning to feel left out of this since I use my name. Nothing has happened to me. Yet.

My personal favorite is #3.

how about all of the above

1. i was the 'Jedi Knight' out of baytown texas way back when
2. this is a similar 'fad' in that it's sort of the modern equivalent of no. 1; adds a layer of anonymity to the whole thing like a mask at a costume party, you feel less inhibited.
3. where do you go to register?

p.s. - i was kroncke,w. for so many years in the military that i'm used to it now, and i do not need a mask to let me speak my mind. (1st i need to get a mind :) )

Remember lesson 3 in the assassin's primer?

"Do not sign your name to death threats."

Why don't more people post their location in their profile? Even a general idea is better than nothing at all. When I don't see a location, I find it harder to take the person seriously. Anybody else feel this way?
I could'nt agree more

Nope. My friend and I used to go up (high school years--late 80's) with his dad and dad's friend. Great times:thumbup: I still remember feeling like a 'city slicker' when we'd go into a gas station up that way and everyone stopped to look at us---but they were friendly.

There are some people who are shy and some unused to the ways of the internet . The sharing of personal information can be used by identity thieves in most unusual ways . You might not think a name can do much . There are some who can get your e-mail address with your name though they usually need a mighty good reason to do it .

..someone normally just has to ask me..for mine..it's why I have one in the first place.
If I were into identity thief I'd start with a phone book not a forum..with a phone book
you can't back track with an IP address..or your could go to your local town office, all the public info you want there too, on tax payers.
doing it here just seems to me would be too much work..every time you cash a check , it has your full account number and bank info on it. this forum doesn't scare me too much..the guys working for the card companies steeling card members info should worry us more.. it's how most of card fraud is done now,,I've reported about 50 of them so far..trying to be used to buy knives just from me alone..:(
