Where is Natlek?

Yes, his tone was sometimes harsh, but I think it was mostly down to English not being his mother tongue and his directness, I think there was no intentional bad blood towards anyone.

He was also happy to help, and did countless illustrations for newbies (inluding myself) and was never shy on sharing information and knowledge.

I know there were numerous heated discussions, but the point of the forum is also to have the possibility to state different opinions, even when such are sometimes wrong.

I hope he reads this and comes back.

Stacy E. Apelt - Bladesmith Stacy E. Apelt - Bladesmith , I hope this is the right place for asking, in the end its the only place a lot of us (hobby) makers frequent on the forum.

According to his details, Natlek was last seen on Sunday at 11:01 CDT (US), so Sunday evening his time. In order for the details to know that he must have been logged in. So, he can see and login, so he can hopefully post.

I, too, encourage you to post again if you are allowed, Natlek. You remind me in a very good way of when we were a little less constantly genteel around here. You and Indian George could have had some good chats. 🤣

I don’t miss him.

I have seen plenty of makers like him, not new to knife making but not a seasoned veteran either.

They ridicule new makers and say the old guys are too old and are out of touch. They however have reached the sweet spot and know everything.

Funny thing is, after more years in the business, they usually have a little more respect for others.

He had me blocked anyway, as he should, I don’t like people always posturing and disrespecting others.

You know he will just get banned again? He is a big boy and if he wants to come back he can contact the administration himself.
If Natlek signs up/starts posting again (which I hope he will) I'll suggest that you put him on ignore so that this forum continues to be "a nicer place" for you.

I occasionally find useful info in some of your posts, and I often found useful information in Natlek's machine builds where he takes a different look at things.

Well, hardheaded and stubborn, yes, but I never had a feeling he was intentionally trolling. I also never saw that he sweared or offended someone on personal level.

As I said before, it takes two to have an argument. And that is why I also feel that I have learnt more by those arguments and discussions, it pushes the knowledgeable folks of this forum to explain more, why things are as they are and/or should or shouldn't be done in a specific way.

In the end it is up to the reader to filter out the information - an internet forum is not a university library.

And finally, yes, you can also choose to use the ignore button and/or not to repond or engange in a discussion.

Thanks all for chiming in, on both ends of the discussion.
