Where is Natlek?

If Natlek signs up/starts posting again (which I hope he will) I'll suggest that you put him on ignore so that this forum continues to be "a nicer place" for you.

I occasionally find useful info in some of your posts, and I often found useful information in Natlek's machine builds where he takes a different look at things.
Or he can stop being a troll. Enough trolls have chased away talented veterans it is far more detrimental to the forum to lose talented makers then gain a troll.

I think this is something that the moderators should decide.
And I think history has shown that they do this pretty well
And that is why the admin banned him. So you are correct.

It seems to me that this person liked confrontations and didn't mind making enemies. Maybe he smarted off to the wrong person and got his clock cleaned.
I have been on this forum a long time and have seen very talented knifemakers who had a lot to offer chased away by somebody being rude to them.
Devin T and his son are a wealth of information and deserve to be treated with respect. As far as that goes, everyone needs to be treated with respect.
I think Stacy has done a good job enforcing this.

If he's allowed back, it should be with an understanding that he'll crawl back in the tempering oven about 15-20C higher temp for a couple cycles and pare it back a little more because that aggressive behavior is not allowed as directed by the owners of this forum to its administration. It can't be that danged hard to learn to say, "Here's the way I do it," instead of, "You are stupid if you don't immediately change to doing it this, my, way."

Alternative ways to see things should always be welcome, because good or bad they make us think critically. That's desirable if presented properly. Important word, that. Everyone should treat each other with respect here.

I'll trust Admin to handle this. And I'll put in another kudo for Stacy's moderating!

You old timers sure have an issue with Natlek. I miss him as I appreciated what he had to offer but obviously he rubbed many the wrong way. I would like to see him contribute again, hell he is way better than the armchair trolls who have only made 5 knives and chime in like they are experts.

Sorry, he’s not that good of a knife maker. Nothing he has ever made has any value on the secondary market. He also hasn’t made enough high quality knives for them to be collectible.

I don't have Any beef with anyone here.....
I liked his unconventional, outside the box problem solving.
I like people who think differently.

Hi Hoss, that's not the point, if I remeber correctly Natlek is a car mechanic.

I do understand the ultimate approach from the perspective of the pro maker, but the matter of fact is that most of the folks that frequent bladeforum and shop talks are not professional makers.

That said, I have the utmost respect for you and all the pro makers that take the time to share their knowledge with us for free.

I also understand pro knife makers who say that they do not have time for internet, forums, trolls and fruitless discussions.

But I believe there is something in between.

Anyway, I didn't want to initiate a pro or con discussion on Natlek. I just wondered and thought where and why did Natlek disappear.

Fair enough

Sorry to stop the music but why is this a GBU thread?

I appreciate Natlek (whoever that may be) has a fan club but was he a maker / distributor / etc.?

I'm 100% with D DevinT .

He was a troll that should have been banned long before he was. The fact that he was asked to come back is yet another black eye on Shop Talk.

This is a forum about making knives ultimately. And natlek wasn't/isn't a good knifemaker.

If some of you would rather suffer an obnoxious troll and have to weed through a bunch of B.S. than have quality knifemakers stick around.......then good job. Hope you enjoy Shop Talk getting run even further into the ground.

There's a reason myself and many other good makers won't post there. Some of you guys have no clue about the absolute knifemaking LEGENDS that use to post there regularly.

But they got so sick of dealing with crap exactly like this. You all should count your blessings that Hoss even bothers to post there.....because he has zero good reasons to.

My grandfather who has(had) legendary status, in Many circles once said........ "You can learn from an idiot."

Now, my grandfather wasn't a nice, kind, or nurturing sort. We didn't get along. but I wish I could of learned just a tiny amount of what he knew.......

Maybe patience is What we "could learn" from dealing with certain folks.....?
