Let's not let this get rancorous...

That’s OK, Munk. You asked for advice. TSF is entitled to provide his with a vulgar and flippant reply if he so choses, even if it does flaunt his immaturity and lack of common sense.

In fact, most people would respectfully disagree with me: Texas ranks only behind California in the number of annual tourists.

As the topic is tourism, and I have been all over North America, I was sincere when I stated that there is nothing in Texas that impressed me enough to spend my time and money on another visit. That is purely a personal preference. It wasn’t unlikable, but nothing really allured me except their women. I found them to be the most charming I’d ever met! But you're married now and so am I.

Regarding my comment about the Alamo, it was merely light-hearted humor. That was common sense, based on the fact that nobody but TSF replied to it. I welcome and often receive similar jokes about my home state (Arizona) and current state of residence (Kansas).

If TJF wants to use that as a frivolous excuse to get his panties in a wad and demonstrate his juvenile mindset, then he’s not worth the time to dialog.

I gotcha. We should lighten up. ( I still think you poked a sensitive spot)

I doubt many places compare to Ca, Montana, Wyoming or Idaho for natural beauty, but I still want to see them.

And they have that great desert there. I need to see it. (Trans Pecos, Chihauhaun)

I love deserts.

:D Tom, you silver tongued devil, you almost convinced me to leave Gods Gift To The USA and vacation in Ohio, but then sanity returned and I decided to go innertubing on the Guadalupe instead! :p Hugh

I yam shocked, SHOCKED! Not one suggestion that you spend your vacation in Scenic Amarillo. Using Amarillo as a base you can see it ALL: Borger; Pampa; Dumas; Hereford; Dalhart ("See Dalhart and die.") Everyting your heart could desire: armadillo races; U.S. Route 66; rattler roundups; wind; dust; pickups; heat; speed tarps. Yup. That's the ticket. Amarillo.

Well, there was this one girl. ;)

They do have some great tumbleweeds that you don't find just anywhere.

Quite a few years ago I spent a weekend there, dropped off an engine to be rebuilt, balanced and blueprinted, for a friends '69 Camaro. Only shop I have ever been in where you could literally eat off the floor. Every tool was in it's place and the place was immaculate. Not a speck of grease or dirt. As I recall my friend got back an incredible engine. Can't remember the name of the shop. Very impressive though.

the alamo is in san antonio, just to be clear. San antonio is nice, i liked it more than new orleans.

Danny.
You can't compare the Alamo to New Orleans. I mean sure they are both battle sites that should ring through history. Sure they both have lots of Spanish architecture and all.

But New Orleans is the old school center of debachury in the nation! Yeah LA might have more Silicon, and Vegas more legal pros working. But New Orleans is where I'd go if'n that was the choice! The food, the atmosphere, the women.

Cafe Du Monde with chicory coffee in the morning.

Pat O's in the afternoon with a Hurricane and a pretty girl.

St Louis Cathedral, Court of Two Sisters, the old courthous square.

Buying chicken feet amulets from the Voodoo shop.

Strolling down Bourbon street, smoking a cigar, as the sun sets.

Dinner at some of the finest restaurants in the nation, and they don't look ir or act it.

I think I need to go back, wonder if the NRA can do their circus downthere again.

that's all true but San Antonio has some restaurants that are just as good, if not better, like La Paloma.
Also, SanAntonio has a functioning solid waste department, something New Orleans cant really say.
Plus, you get to see the background setting for the rivetting thriller"cloak and dagger" starring Dabney Coleman!

I'm not eating at some restaurant named after a type of horse. :barf: :footinmou

New Orleans could have a functioning solid waste department, but that would require effort. Besides it wouldn't "let the good times Roll".

As for Dabney Coleman's movie :barf:

But hey he's going to Texas right? I Hope you have a nice trip Munk, and tell us tales.

Would have ignored the first comment, but couldn't let the Alamo comment stand without a respose. Wasn't "light-hearted" in my opinion and a little "juvenile" in my opinion. If it was in good fun, I'll take you at your word. And I'll thank you not to talk about my panties.

Hooters.

Nothin' like Texas women in tight T-shirts.. :D

What's this got to do with khukuries? everything!

;)
