Thanks guys.

I trust your mother is making a full recovery Todd, but I'll shoot up a prayer for her tonight as well.

pay a man what's he worth, even if he doesn't ask it.

good plan.

I took that badass truck back to the dealership last night.

They called me yesterday saying they couldn't get the interest rate we already signed for, they wanted to raise my payments... After we signed the contracts.... And then when I get to the lot, over an hour away, they wanna talk about new deals we can make or other trucks we can look at.

I handed him the keys and told him I wouldn't trust anything he says now and walked out.

So I'm back shopping for a truck. Although I also looked at a couple jeeps.... But I'm pissed about the truck... It was sweet. The payments they wanted weren't though.

Sales guy must have gotten his a** chewed if it got to the point of asking you to pay more. Sucks about the truck...it sure was a great look you had going for it, too.

Its my intention yes. But no promises. Heres the reason. I do everything myself, including my own heat treat. I've had customers want several of my knives in stainless steel for years. Its just not that simple. First of all, depending on what you get, the material can be 3X higher cost. The time it takes to heat treat is is 3X the time and complexity (if you want it right anyway which I assume you do is) 3X harder. Keep in mind, I have a hourly shop rate, (this is no different than the wage you earn at your job) so taking all of that into consideration, I dont mean to sound like a ass, but I've had my fill with people expecting a handmade SS knife, with sheath and shipping for a wal mart gerber price. I'm more than willing to accommodate people, but you have to understand what your buying.

Truth is, I have almost two dozen of theses in the shop right now in various stages. The one I sold to Whitty is just a feeler really, believe it or not, without even advertising them, just by he said she said, most of the first dozen are spoken for, and I dont want to start taking orders,on them until I have those obligations filled because I dont want to get behind the eight ball on them. So, my intention is to make the dozen or so I already have orders for, make the other six or 12 and offer them at BLADE and have a clean slate on them then. Maybe that's when I'll offer them as a permanent fixture in my line up, or move onto something else. Either way. CPM154 is cool, but its a real bitch on my end. I'm just trying to give everyone what there asking for.

I understand. Thanks for the answer.

I'd appreciate any prayers you might have to spare for my Mother-in-law. Last Saturday one of her legs gave out, and by Sunday afternoon it had been determined that she has cancer between the lobes of her brain.

She's scheduled for laser surgery tomorrow, Friday, at noon. Supposedly it's minimally invasive and the doc's has done thousands of them, but it's still cancer, and it's still brain surgery.

Thanks,

John

Prayers sent up. Hope all goes well.

Reminds me of a story back in Psych. My professor went to a car dealership, saw one she liked, agreed on a price with the salesman, and filled out all the paperwork. Salesman came back saying he couldn't give the car for that price as some % off deal was no longer active. She looked at him and said, "Oh well you'll be hearing from my lawyer, bait and switch is illegal in this state." She didn't have a lawyer. But she got the car for the original price.

I would think if contracts were signed then you got 'em. But at the same time do you really want to give them your money under any circumstances? I would have tossed 'em back the keys with a big GFY.

I bought a 96' trans am about 15yrs ago....salesman told me on the phone 12500, after verbal agreement he said he screwed up but would honor it. My bank was like, what? They valued it at 17,500...drove it home without dropping a cent!
That's a stand-up dealer there man...

Wife hated it lol...eventually traded it in for a 99 Grand Cherokee Ltd. Fully loaded... Loved that rig... She drove it thru a house...

It protected her and the kids, she went thru the basement cinderblock corner, two walls. Weird...but stood up to the blows and nobody was hurt.

I believe that's considered 'off label use'.

Good luck to the folks with ill relatives, you have my sympathies!

Thanks fellas.

Hoss, I didn't say GFY... But he tried to follow me outside when I was leaving, said he had another truck he wanted to show me real quick... I told him he better not follow me outside... The way I said it, he got the point.

Going back out looking tomorrow, early morning... Different dealerships. But I'll be more open to other vehicles... Even used if the deal is good enough... At this point I just want some wheels back... Can't get to the creek by foot.... Cheaper truck means more fun money... Would be smarter... But it's hard to resist brand new and shiny lol

I won an old KABAR pocket knife on ebay for 5.99. Neat little knife but now I'm all addicted to ebay. I cant stop checking ebay. Cant stop thinking about ebay. I got bids on about 8 knives. I hope I lose a few. :D

I got the knife cheap because someone sharpened it on something electric and messed up the blade.

Before and after. I have a post in the KABAR forum if anyone wants to see more pics.

You done good, that's a quality restore and a sweet deal of a knife.

Well...Today I've been home with the kiddo's. Last night both my boys had high fevers and were throwing up. Today they got up and didn't have that normal child spunk to them. Both were lethargic and spent the majority of the day on the couch heh. I snuggled in with them and we were watching kids movies the majority of the day (while daddy looked at knives online :D).

I didn't really feel like cooking tonight so I decided to go eat some 'fast food' (which we normally don't do). My wife is working so its just me and my 3. We walk in to McD's, I order, we pay, then the manager walks up to me and tells me not worry about a thing. Take my kids to the play place and he'll take care of everything. In 5 min he had everything set up at our table (right outside the playplace). I could of hugged the guy!(instead I only thanked him profusely, the hugging might of been weird) He even got extra napkins and multiple ketchups! Things like this restore my faith in humanity ever so slightly

Thanks for the thoughts, prayers, smoke, etc. The mother-in-law's surgery went well. There will be radiation and chemo in the future but we are thrilled with today's results.

TBL hope the littles feel better soon.

WW - sorry about the truck situation. Hope something good at a great price shows up for you soon.

Awesome news Dunk! Glad the surgery went well! Smoke gone up for a speedy recovery!
