Where will you be at New Years Eve night at 12:00, Some of you that are concern that Y2K
will be a problem, will you be home are will you be out bringing the new year in.I will be at home, not that I think that something may happen but don't know what some people that does think there will be a problem are going to be doing. Entergy power co. says they are ready for Y2K but yet they have been installing generaters and propane tanks at most all of their communitations tower and their plants, Just incase they are wrong they can still communicate. I will be at home but
their still some crazy people in this world
so i did stock up on a little ammo. (just in case that I'm wrong ). I guess want worries me the most is not what going to happen but what people think is going to happen. But for now I hope Jan. 1,00 will be as normal as 1999.

I will be standing in line at these retailers that have overstocked gas generators on sale at half price. LOL

I'm going to be home, primarily because I've never enjoyed New Year's parties. I have nothing against parties, but on New Year's, everyone tries too hard as they feel they are supposed to have a good time. While not going out, I will probably A) watch Dick Clark's latest face-lift and B) play with one of my Christmas/New Year's knives. A few glasses of beverage are probably called for, after I tire of playing with the knives.

I plan on spending New Years in the middle of the wilderness, backpacking. I'll see the damage on the second or third i'm in no hurry. I figure the worst thing that can happen to me when I get back will be that I can't take a hot shower. I think that the birds, fish, trees, leaves, fresh air, and all my performance blade and survival gear are Y2K compliant. Ahh...yes.... in the woods wondering what chaos is going on miles away. Take another sip of my hot chocolate and listen to the owls.
Take care Jeff

We've usually stayed home, playing it safe and all, and will do the same this year. Like you suggested I'm more worried about what others will do than about some sort of system meltdown, and although we have been adding to our earthquake/power outage supplies it's been more coincidental than preparing for Y2K. When people talk about stocking up on cases of 7.62x39 and geiger counters and such I usually remind them that there is really no substitute for toilet paper unless one wants to start making one-holers in the backyard as everything else will clog the plumbing. Some iodine crystal kits, and a portable heat source to warm up different parts of the house to keep the pipes from freezing and the toilets from cracking will come in handy too.

I'll be sitting home watching the festivities on the boob tube.I'll be keeping my 12 guage handy just in case people use the y2k hype as an excuse to go on a massive looting spree and destroy our community. If the police are overwhelmed by mass crime spree's at least I'll be able to protect my home sweet home.Later,RS

Well acording to the CIA I will be in the #2 terrorist zone, Orlando!

So going with me are my Sig 226 and 230, my Calico Carbine with 2 100 round magazines, two Walther PPK's various knives like my new HALO III.

In a city like Las Vegas the safest place to be will be home in bed asleep.

I'll be spending a quiet evening at home with my family. We've got a few extra supplies for just in case, but I really don't expect any problems at home. I'll probably sleep through New Years, as usual. My kids will most likely stay up and see the New Year in, as usual.

At work, our critical servers will be shut down prior to the holiday and won't come back up until Monday the 3rd. I'll still have internet access over the holiday. Some of the network sysadmin guys are pulling extra hours to monitor all network activity more closely than usual. In case of any serious hacking, the network connection to the internet will be interrupted until the hacking is cleared.

I'm hoping we all get through this one safely and securely.

I'll be home with the lady, a bottle of wine and a Cohiba watching the festivities on the TV. Oh Ya! two of my best friends will be with us, Benelli M1 Super90, and Bushmaster. I'd like to wish all the forum members a healthy and prosporous NEW YEAR.

Well, I don't think all computers will crash. I feel the #1 problem in the US will be "people related." I also don't think that most of the problem will happen the second we go into 2000(at least in my part of town).

Now to the question at hand. Well, I don't drink/smoke and have sex before I'm married, so I won't be going to any huge new years parties. I think their may be a church party, so judging how the east coast handles Y2K I might go to that. But then again I might just have a quiet night at home with the guns.

Sincerely,
Adam

Probably working I'm afraid. I don't drink
so I was the natural choice for designated
computer geek.

Setting off a 1,000 sparkler sparkler flare as the finale to a fireworks show I'll be giving at my house with 30 or 40 guests. My wife and I prefer to give our own parties.

Purchases of "surplus" generators will be taking place >Jan. 1, 2000 since I could use one of those things.

Take care and happy holidays,

Mike

I will be on standby for the power co. I work for. We should'nt have any problem with our equipment. The only worry is the people that supply our power. As always my Glock and now my Sebenza (thanks honey!) will be on standby with me.

We want to wish everyone a happy & prosperous new year.

I will be monitoring other nations on shortwave hours before Y2k hits USA. Also will monitor Fema, Guard, Cap, and navy marine ssb frequencies on shortwave after Y2k hits east coast. Loading up AK's and SKS's which have high capacity mags also a good idea, plus 45 auto, Star 9mm largo, and 357 magnum all will be ready to go,just in case. Generator will be ready to go also. I dont g et my info from mainline sources .That is why i am thinking the road could be rough if my sources are correct. Knives such as Da Socom, CS Vaquero Grande, Carnivour, Gunsite, military, and Gurhka Kukri will be on me or somewhere around . Oh, for the good old days of the Cold War. This Y2k suspense is driving me nuts! Wife will PROBABLY ignore the whole situation and go to bed. I plan to be on duty all night long! By the way , watch Klinton's speech on Tuesday. I think he will "spill the beans" on Y2k and may discuss emergency measures. That is the rumor 'on the street".

I'll be in Vegas just like all the other New Years. Not really looking foward to it though. Never really enjoyed New Years. Maybe something exciting will happen this year.
