Hi everyone,

I have been trying out Civivi knives over the last few years in an attempt to narrow down to my favorites and I’m interested in which knives you all rank best.

My #1 choice is the Ortis flipper in damascus and twill carbon fiber. Thin behind the edge, easy to flip, easy to disengage lock, scales grippy but not too grippy.

What are your favorites and why?

mmmm…
hard to say

The wayvern is light as a feather with cool snake scales, the Picaro is a big knife, 3.9 blade that feels light and comfy…the fat blade on the Praxis is cool,
and the feel of the backlash fits like a glove…
its between the Praxis and the Backlash for130B17B1-1A3B-464E-85BD-4AF2CBAC6DB5.jpegme as to favorite.

Thanks for sharing. I‘ve been considering the copper praxis in Damascus for a while, but was thinking that has to be a brick to carry.

Out of my civivi bo, backlash, brazen drop point and elementum my elementum gets the most rotation time it's actually in my pocket today. Civivi is the reason I got back into modern folders after a couple years of just slipjoints.

I really like the micarta handled imperiums. With the damascus blade, it's a nice blend of classy looking but still a working knife. Just a nice, portable EDC-sized folder.

I only have the Imperium, not bad knife, good action, I like the steel, holds good edge for whatever I'm doing with it.
Otherwise, I find it just a plain gentleman's folder for general use... IMO Civivi have few useful models but overall nothing that impresses me.
I purchase the knife only because was curious about the steel and I like it so far. Again for the fanboys - good knife for the price.
I like couple of the "damscus" models ( is is real damascus ?) and the traditional model with the bolster and micarta handle, that one I'll probably purchase in a future.

Well I can tell how they seem to be keeping costs low… a lot of blade shapes and overall knives are similar… I’ve confused a few models I was looking at on more than one occasion. I do prefer the Civivi line over the WE items. WE is a big jump in cost just to change to titanium and better steel. I think Civivi is a brand that gets the job done but you won’t cry if you break it or misplace it. Aside from maybe cold steel and spyderco, I can’t think of another brand I trust enough in the sub $100 category.

Yeesh hard to pick just one. The praxis really is a great value I tend to use it a lot in the kitchen due to the stainless nature of the 9Cr it uses and the thin geometry. If you like the look of that but want slightly harder steel then you can check out the Incite pictured next to it in D2. Very much in the same lineage.

If I had to narrow it down I would say the Riffle, Brazen, and Incite make it into my pocket the most. The 14C28N on the Brazen and the Riffle just blows away any other budget steel for my uses and the micarta on the Riffle really brings it together. You have to remind yourself that its a sub $60 knife every time.

My biggest turnoff to most of the Civivi and WE knives is that I tend to gravitate away from flippers and they make a lot of them. I don't like what it does with the lines of the knife. I'm starting to really like front flippers because of this, as long as it's not annoying to use (looking at you real steel metamorph).

Real steel Metamorph is terrible design. Either lighten the detent or make the handle more milled/more grippy. Looks pretty though, but then again so are the new Exarchs...

They make great flippers but I get that some people are just tired of them. The upside is that Civivi just makes great detents. The Brazen I have runs beautifully off of a thumbstud and if one were so inclined it wouldn't be too hard to delete that flipper with a belt sander. Also the openings on the Riffle and the Shredder are such that opening with your thumb or reverse spydie flicking is incredibly satisfying and surprisingly reliable. One could probably get away with flipper deleting both of them as well.

Add to that their growing line of front flippers and even those with an aversion to flippers will have a bevy of choices.

Now we just need them to start producing sliding bar lock knives.....A civivi axis style lock knife with a grind like the Praxis, Micarta scales, 14C28N and the ball bearings they use?????? oof

Agree completely on the metamorph. Just bad execution on the action.

I almost had an exarch when I picked up the imperium. Might still get one, we'll see. Civivi does not suffer from too few options to choose from.

The action on my McKenna is fabulous, best front flipper I own. The 9Cr damascus is beautiful and seems to hold an edge well for what it is, but the G-10 ruins it. I don't like metal handles, especially copper. The smell of copper makes me wanna puke, I don't even like the feel of it.

My Exarch in Twill CF and Damascus is beautiful, but you have to have the right grip to get it to flip well. It could use a stiffer detent.

The Imperium would be on my list, but the thumbstud ruins the look IMO.

I prefer front flippers and hole openers, but the flipper tab on the Riffle is very unobtrusive which I like, plus I can hole open it. Plus that hand rubbed damascus blade. I like hand rubbed stuff in general...😇

To be honest, I really like hole openers on bearings, like my Spyderco Southard and even the Domino, more than the flipper tab. F it, I'm gonna order a Riffle.

You don’t like the smell of copper? Oh man I love it! Plus the added benefit of being naturally self-sanitizing. I have a copper McKenna, awesome flipper, and weight is manageable due to small size.

I lost 30% of my vision when I was 11, and all my senses are heightened, and I am extremely sensitive to smells, tastes, sounds and textures. Even 30 years later, copper is one that I just can't handle the smell or feel of it. I was gifted a copper Olight flashlight and I keep it in a ziploc.

I generally dislike metal handles, especially on a knife that was not originally designed for them. The added weight just annoys me.

I'm a peculiar and very picky person and proud of it!!!!
