Which Civivi knife is your favorite?

My favorite one? That’s easy! It’s the brazen…and the imperium, riffle, baklash, hadros, drifter ii, mckenna, exarch.. i also like my cf badlands like your ortis.

I have a bad habit of buying multiples. Of those they are the brazen, imperium, hadros, baklash and riffle. I have a problem…

My top faves right now are the imperium, brazen, and hadros

It should be Civivi’s motto: “Bet you can’t buy just one!”

I also can't stand copper items... The feel drives me crazy, I don't care for the anti-septic properties, nor for the weight. In fact I like little bit heavier knifes because I feel it better in my hand,
my fingers are "tired' from work and so...

I also agree with @bikerector about the flipper thing... I don't like flippers, in fact I prefer thumb studs because of the feel, they give me better feedback than the holes,
flippers are against my habit to ride the thumb stud till the blade is locked.

To me flippers are just trendy for two reasons: 1. Target market, "fidget factor". American market in particular is dominated in big part of the fidget trend,
people flipping knives left and right with no reason, just because they like to explore different ways of opening, like the feel of the flying on the bearings blades and clicking the lock bars...
Nothing wrong with this, it's good for the business and all the legitimate Chinese companies are exploring it because it's profitable.
I look at the knife as being a tool or some how weapon and not having control over the sharp blade during opening for me is a safety issue, that's why i don't like much flippers.
With this said, yes, I have flippers because I'm not that stiff with my principles and rules, I compromise when I like the knife or some other properties of it...

Second reason for flippers being so popular is IMO - they are easier to manufacture than blade with thumb studs or holes if you want. less manufacturing operations, cheaper...
They are saving money when manufacturing the knife and still selling trendy item. Again - nothing wrong with this as long as it's done by a legitimate company and they pay their taxes here.

I have absolutely no doubt that Chinese companies are capable of high manufacturing quality, just don't like that particularly Civivi, WE and the rest of the gang,
look alike throughout the models line, just as 45 mentioned - they look the same.
Civivi to me have no appeal in 95% of his production, on the other hand I love some of the collaborations, weather they are Civivi or WE, or Kizer and so on.

Here is e heresy for all of you Chinese fanboys, something that I was stating for a very long time - Chinese culture is in general not capable of designing a knife that will look useful for a western society,
without of course going to the collaboration with western designers. And of course they are some good original designs but not that many, again - IMO.
They have been suppressed for a such a long time that will have a hard time understanding why would you carry a knife for self defense or just for fun,
for "fidget factor" or for this matter, why would you manufacture a folder as a piece of art... They are very good to follow trends and market their products, Olight is a good example, but nothing more than this if we're talking about knives, I think.
I could be wrong of course but I have few examples out of the knife industry, where Chinese were given chance, but were completely not capable of producing certain products for the West simply because of their mentality.

On their Damascus, I have a question - what is the best Civivi Damascus folder in your opinion ? everything I see is not appealing to me, I wish they had at least something as the laminate the Mcusta is using for their folders...

I don't like copper scales but I do like flipper tabs. They are my favorite way to open a knife. Thumb studs might be second.

As far as a favorite Civivi... that's tough. There are a bunch of great models. I've really enjoyed the Naja but it is now discontinued. The Baklash is solid. I really like the S35VN version of the Elementum with thinner blade stock. The Riffle is cool and comfortable to use but I wish the back corner was rounder in my pocket.

Hi everyone,

I have been trying out Civivi knives over the last few years in an attempt to narrow down to my favorites and I’m interested in which knives you all rank best.

My #1 choice is the Ortis flipper in damascus and twill carbon fiber. Thin behind the edge, easy to flip, easy to disengage lock, scales grippy but not too grippy.

What are your favorites and why?

Those knives sure support child labor.

I wish Civivi would make a larger version of the Mckenna with micarta or cf and damascus, like a 3.5" blade.
The lazar seems close at what, 3.25? But I don’t know if it comes in micarta or cf. I’ve been thinking about getting it, but that trailing point… I’m just not sure.

Civivi's damascus is 9Cr based, and I've had good luck with it for not being a PM steel, though I haven't really done anything rigorous with mine, as the ones I have are not heavy duty styles. I like the damascus on the McKenna, the Exarch is ok, very average looking.

I agree, I much prefer a wharncliffe.

I’ve pretty much come to terms with the fact that I’ll need to sharpen the Damascus more often, and I’m okay with it since Civivi does a good job on the Damascus. Sometimes I sacrifice function for looks and a McKenna is an acceptable sized sacrifice.
