Which Civivi knife is your favorite?

The Pintail is probably their best made knife, but a little small for my hands. The Dogma Blue is the prettiest and the Damascus Bullmastiff is the most appealing to my teenage self. The Backlash is the one I get the most use out of, but my light use rotation EDC on my desk is currently an Elementum (Cuibourtia Wood Handle).

did they actually use Damascus steel on these? looks really nice.

They're a bit hush-hush on what they're doing because of the cost effectiveness of it, from my research anyway. I think it's some type surface finish whether it's a well done laser thing or what, I have no idea. It has a bumpy texture to it on the sides and seems to be pretty durable from the use I have on my imperium. It's holding up better than many costings, almost like a DLC. Wonder if they do a DLC or similar high wear resistance coating and laser into it?

I don't think its true, folded over damascus like you would see from custom knifemakers. I suppose it could be a more complicated thing like damasteel, but I find it hard to believe civivi is making their own steel and are able to sell it for these prices. But, maybe it's possible.

It has the look, it works, and it's stainless.

It seems to hold up during use better than damascus from other makers. Heavy use doesn’t seem to fade it as much.

My vote is for the Little Fiend..

A friend also questioned if the Damascus they used is actually layered steel. So, I sanded down the spine of my blade until smooth and applied some ferric chloride to etch and see if a pattern showed up, and it did;

He was surprised and a bit dubious as he wondered why I would have such a chemical on hand ;) well I have had several san mai blades from Murray Carter and I like etching the blade to show the core steel so I had a small amount in my cupboard...

Here is the Civivi Rustic Gent I did the testing on

Right now my current Civivi fav is the Imperium also in Damascus steel and this was ground down to almost a zero bevel, she be quite sharp !

The Rustic Gent is probably the one I'll get in their Damascus @GaryWGraley. Probably one of the few Civivi that I like.
Do you think the blade can be polished little bit more ? I also have the ferric chloride and if I mess up probably can put it back in and bring back the dark parts ?

I don't know what you would be using but if it was done once, it should be able to do again. I picked the spine for just such a reason, as there I can make it all even, where the hollow ground blade would be a bit more trouble unless you have a good buffer to help get it polished back up.

They are simply amazing knives, I recently parted with mine as I was lacking funds to buy something else...go figure...;) but I do miss those!

I like them but I'm not that crazy for flippers. The slip joint is good, I'll get it at one point and will fiddle with it, yes, I have few toys in my small shop.
Everything you need to polish feed ramp would do it on a blade, thanks for the tip Gary... :cool: :thumbsup:

I would highly recommend this one, Trailblazer XL, also a slip joint with a pocket clip and hidden lanyard pin, ground thin this is probably my sharpest knife in my meager collection right now.

but the Rustic Gent, which is available in many options, is still very cool.
