Which factory folder were you most disappointed with?

Delica's.. bought a set of the ffg colors and they just don't deploy like I'd expected from other spydies.. its not just one of them but ALL that I bought..

I disagree with previous poster about ergo, and the knife in general, I think Delica is a great knife, its just the ones I bought do not deploy well at all, not like I expeced and yes I was VERY disappointed.................

Benchmade 530.

Not so much a fault of the knife, but this was when I didn't really know what I wanted. This knife wasn't for me. Yeah, it was light, but it felt very fragile. Too fragile for Edc.

Buck 850 Bravo. Went through two examples as a Christmas gift for my son - finally just gave him the second one. He wasn't impressed, either. The G10 scales were secured with some screws so long that they drug on the blade. The pivot screw was supported by G10 on one side - the blade drug on the frame, dulled itself on the spacer, and wobbled. Just a poorly carried out design - probably rectified by the 855 Bravo Rescue, as it - like the now in retrospect great 277/279 Folding Alpha Hunter - supports the pivot screw in steel. Love Bucks - just not the 850 Bravo. Oddly, the similar vintage 419 Folding Kalinga Pro in S30V, is great. Sadly, it and it's 408 FB version were canned last year. go figure!

Not too fond of the Kershaw Zing, either - my worst Kershaw by far. Still looks new... hmmm, my son likes Kershaws...

I guess my letdown was with my WH Gentac, bladeplay, handle screw fell out and was lost, sent it in and all they did was replace the screw, my two other WH were perfect though. I guess 2 out of 3 isnt too bad,,,,yeah right.

The most dissapointing was my Emerson Raven. Coating wore very quickly because the blade rubbed on the liner so hard. Tried adjusting everything and it was just too off center. Lock-up started at 80% and moved to 100% across the blade within 4 weeks of use.

The cold steel ti-lite i had was a total POS, Stiff as heck, thumb stud tore up my thumb, completely fell apart.

Queen D2 slipjoints. I bought a couple of nice limited editions, fit and finish was perfect but the blades had NO edge. They didn't need sharpening, they needed grinding. I had to take them to a local knifemaker after spending hours with them on my diamond stones.

Really frustrating. I've never bought another Queen knife.

Kershaw Chive -- opened in my pocket regularly. Blade dulled in light use and required constant touch-up.

Kershaw Scallion (aluminum scales) -- just seemed too heavy for its size. Soft blade steel (same as above).

Spyderco Cricket -- hated sharpening the curvy VG-10 blade which didn't offer a lot of utility. Seemed to get pulled out of my pocket a lot. I stopped carrying it because I was sure I'd lose it.

Stay sharp,

I do for circuit sized wire. For anything about #6 and up I use a knife. I try to cut just deep enough to pull the insulation off without scoring the copper or aluminum.

AWG sizes are pretty specific. I've watched countless apprentices score a ring around the conductor only to unknowingly reduce the ampacity of the wire.

That or they just don't care and then I have no use for them anyway.

Ah, big wires...I forgot about those. :D

Yeah, a lot of people strip a lot of copper along with the plastic...bad news.

I also forgot about the Benchmade 930 Kulgera. Hated it. Uncomfortable, awkward to grab the axis, and nicked my palm when I closed it. Gave it to my brother.

CRKT M-16 series. Never actually used the knife long enough to have real problem with it, but those skeleton handles were so uncomfortable.

Cold Steel. Their designs are cool but the reliability and function can be crap. Specifically I have had 4 knives I've returned: Ti Lite zytel, Ti Lite titanium, Gunsite, and Scimitar. The Ti-Lites and Scimitars had bad liner locks, blade play became an issue within the first couple times of opening and closing, plus the locks have bad tension so they fail to make positive contact with the locking surface on the blade after a while. I'm stoked for their new Voyager line in San Mai III though. While their folders aren't the best I've seen, the fixed blades are considerably better, love my Finn bear.

My BM mini grip 556 was a huge disappointment. it was my first knife, so naturally i had no sharpening supplies. it shipped brand new, ridiculously dull. also the rattle it's developed is kind of annoying. really dont feel like giving benchmade any more of my money. $30 tenacious and rat-1 shipped razor sharp, there is no excuse that a $67 knife should not.

CRKT M16 in G10 and Aluminum

Cannot hold an edge for crap, not a knife when it dulls after cutting an Apple.

CRKT M16, awful knife. All the CRKT's are terrible, yep I said it....terrible

Sog flash, horribly cheap feel doesn't even fire half as fast as they claim.
All of the sogs....just disappointing

Spyderco Endura 4 ZDP-189....rusted out completely I just tossed it in the trash can where it belonged. Never bought another spyderco....Can't believe they would produce such a knife.

Benchmade 940....horribly thin blade, lock up was so horrible it was the first knife that claimed my flesh, after a mere 20 seconds of handling it. Luckily all my other Benchmades stood up to what they were supposed to be. The QC on Benchmade is fantastic they often repair more stuff on the knives I send in then I ask :)

ZT 302, QC control AWFUL....Love the knife if they shipped them correctly from the factory, one day it will piss me off enough to send it back for a tuneup. (back liner being hit by the blade, which is supposidly not uncommon)...pathetic. But alas it's a good knife so I tolerate it and will send it in for repairs at some point.

I find myself appalled at many of the knives companies are producing lately. Therefore I've just about stopped buying knives. Crowning the kings of production to Strider (awesome warranty service) and XM-18's (perfect knife)....despite the fact that you cannot get them to save your life, especially at the price they SHOULD be ($400).

Still have to say my Kershaw ZDP-189 Titanium Mini-Cyclone.Brand new and the lockbar touched the other titanium scale(100% engagement) and on top of that the lockbar is just plain titanium. Not even carbonized like the ZT301 and titanium bump that I have.

Beretta Airlight, nice knife as far as F&F and weight but I really believe it would get dull in my pocket. I could never get it to hold an edge!! I ended up selling it to a buddy of mine who liked the knife. I told him it would get sharp but would stay that way. He still gives me crap over that knife to this day, lol!
